I liked how defenders just bounced off of him.
Him vs. Koulibaly will be practically a wrestling match.

If he plays with back to the goal then Koulibaly will have easy game, if he running at the defenders then it's hard to stop him.

He's no stranger to scoring in his debut with a new club, but it's still a vital and not-obvious goal for him.

If Conte really thought that the Belgian was generally misused at United and has been planning to suit his abilities and exploit his potential (while covering his obvious flaws) for a quite a while... well, it's a work in progress and way to go, but again, Lukaku seems like a smart student of the game and yesterday we already saw some glimpses of what Conte has in mind for him.
Let's trust the process (big-matches will be circled in red, it goes without saying).

Forza Lukakone.

[Also, Georgatos-level of nostalgia rewatching the video of Vieri's debut posted by Brehme.

Bobo was playfully teased during Tiki Taka and asked if Lukaku was better than him: the sound of his “no” was very telling.
But he was also the first to hype Lukaku as "a great buy and a very good center forward"...

... at least in 2019, if I may add. Forza Bobone.]

He brings solo quality that only top 10 strikers bring, we will be really dangerous on counters, just bcs we have him on our team, a beast, slightly better than Icardi, even tough they are 2 different worlds, but in Serie A, and in small games, he brings more to the table than Icardi.

Man, Lukaku must have felt goosebumps here. Compared to the rather dull goal celebration of the English crowd who only cheers a bit and then stands up clapping, the Meazza crowd goal celebration must be a thrilling experience for him.

Lukaku scores.
Crowd goes apeshit.
Stadium announcer screams his first name "ROMELU!"
Crowd replies "LUKAKU!"
This repeats for a few times before that one last time.
RO! ME! LU!
LUKAKU!

OLE OLE OLE INTER INTER

:proud:

Haha who asked him that? For one thing Vieri can dominate in the box, that's not Lukaku's game at all. That headed attempt after Candreva's cross was pathetic for a big man.

I was thinking Crespo would score 2 goals in that same situation, but times have changed, some other skills are more important now.

He wasn't in the right position to even attempt the header. But we know what FIF does with people who don't try, just ask Handanovic.

I'm looking forward to what he can become under Conte with a more trim physique. Obviously he's still a bit overweight and rusty with the lack of preseason. Even so, he still looked pretty good out there. I think we'll see a much better Lukaku come October.

That Lukaku Esposito bond looked really funny. Also great if they bond in a way that Lukaku keeps giving Espo all the tricks he knows about movement and positioning as a forward (not about first touch, sorry had to  )

Haha who asked him that?

It was the presenter, Pierluigi Pardo: not exactly the most renowned Italian football journalist, especially in his anchorman version.

For what it's worth, Vieri and Cassano share the same good opinion of Lukaku, but the latter claims that we overpaid for the Belgian, Higuain is still a better player than Icardi and Inter will win the scudetto.

Fantantonio is a natural at playing the role of the interista who stirs the pot and takes on we-know-who.
He definitely earned his spot as recurring guest.

Lukaku was known for being nice to the younger players at United. Apparently he used to take Marcus Rashford after practice and work on finishing. He has probably also been nice to Esposito who is super excited a famous striker is even talking to him. 6 months ago the kid was just a normal 16 year old (well kinda) now he’s in the first team and friends with Lukaku. I can understand his excitement.

I assume you watched the whole thing. There is this part that I was really interested, and with my limited Italian, I didn't fully understand. Around the 1:05:00 mark, that older man in a suit sitting on left directed a question to Vieri and Cassano, asking Vieri primarily sth like "if you were not wanted by the fans, coach, society, etc. what would've you done?" and Vieri responded with 2 arguments. I'd really like to understand what he replied.

If you know which part I mean, could you please tell?

Always great to see strikers score on their debut. Like some of us said before we bought him, his first touch is pretty bad. I hope it won’t lead to him to fucking up our counter attacks in the future but we’ll see.

I checked just to be sure.

First of all, Vieri wanted to make clear that Curva Nord turned on him strictly because of “extra-football things” (which is partially true, since the accusations went from “Vieri is a diva with no loyalty to the shirt” and “an individualist already looking past his career and focusing on being an entrepreneur with his buddies Maldini and Brocchi” to “Vieri is playing against Cuper” and stuff like that).

About the second argument: Vieri said he was used to make phone calls before the start of the season and ask the coach/president to be completely honest with him (“What's the plan? Should I stay or should I go? Are you happy with me?”).

If they had told him to leave or questioned his value and committment, “I would have found a new club by myself”. There's no way he would have stayed, let alone accept a situation similar to the one of Icardi (the phone-tapping scandal came out later).

Just for the record, the journalist was Sandro Sabatini (Inter's “head of press office” during the 90s, when he handled media relations for the club). And he sounds a bit sour when he talks about the Nerazzurri, behind his well-spoken and elegant persona.

All Sabatinis left the club with some form of sourness.

Thank you, Sir. Yes, that was exactly the part I meant. Makes sense now.

Thanks, I never heard of this before. The way Esposito ran at him clearly shows they are pretty close and I think it also shows that Lukaku is a humble guy.
