The lukaku vs icardi comparison is totally pointless. They could have been a great duo. Icardi wasn't kicked away for technical reasons, only because of his behavioural issues, so to speak.

Who's the better forward, it's a purely academic discussion.

That was a point that couldn't be stressed enough, just because Icardi was prolific for us, that doesn't mean other strikers won't score as well. Lukaku right now is not better than Icardi, but what he does is just as dangerous as what Icardi regulary did.

No point in passing, he just received the ball and can go head to head

I think that was the right moment to pass the ball as Lukaku was accelerating and could have picked up the ball being tracked by both defenders thus leaving Politano free to receive the ball back.
Politano went head to head but he was closed by the defender and goalkeeper. Maybe he should have tried to change the direction when he was still 1-1.

Yep absolutely loved that he switched to italian mid interview. Imho shows his commitment and his will/desire to win over fans, I know it does not mean much but i always get confused when players are in a country for like a couple of years and never even bother to learn the language (ribery).

Anyways Rom has been up to a great start even if i dont think he s had a great game against cagliari but i think his reaction to the booing and even his tweet concerning the incident we re spot on. And i really feared that this racist shit might break him or bring forward a not so great reaction which would make the media jump on him but he handled it really well. So i guess what i saying i hope this honeymoon period lasts as long as only possible.

I want heavy punishments to Cagliari. I think this incident has got quite some attention in social media and in the press all the way to England etc.

Did you guys see the Curva Nord statement on Lukaku? They basically said that monkey chanting is not racist, and that they'll do it if given the chance.

Ahh those fucking idiots but seriously i m not surprised one bit, sadly this sentiment of it not being racists is pretty common in italy.

I especially love the part where they (a bunch of white guys) tell him that he needs to understand that racism is not a real problem in italy and they just use it to mess with people. WTf are these guys thinking who the hell would think it s a good idea to write a letter like this...

I really hope this does not turn into a real problem cause lukaku seems to be pretty outspoken about it and is not gonna take any of it.

They did say its a sign of respect because they are afraid of his ability and goals, so maybe he should embrace the chants.

Actually this is the only good way to deal with racism from the players' side. Breaking down crying like Koulibaly certainly didn't help. Be cool with it and once those fans realize racist chants don't affect you, they'll stop. I'm not victim blaming tho, just saying the unfortunately black players gotta deal with the shitty situation they're in.

I was being sarcastic in embracing them but you are correct, and thats what he actually did, ignored them.

If he request a transfer in next window i dont blame him at all, that statement was more stupid than what Cagliari fans did.

Well thats how he dealt with it it s not like he showed that it affected him on the pitch, also this shit has been going on for to long to just say it will go away if players ignore it. We have not moved much forward since roma fans throw bananas at balo.
And the notion of ohh it s not racist it s just to annoy you then how com with players dont get that treatment?
Whats even worse is that inter fans come to defend cagliari fans who fucken insulted an Inter playyer!!!! How fucken dumb do you have to be your loality should lay with the club first and not with some fucken racist agenda of yours especially not if your an inter fan.

Anyways it s fucken retarded of the curva to put out such a statement and it s just hilarious that after 2 games and a month they already are starting problems with our new star player.

Despicable behaviour by that section of Cagliari fans, and its no surprise that their stupid Club supported them in their response and even less surprising that so did Inter ultras. Our ultras are sadly as racist as anyones. This needs to be stamped out with severe punishments for the clubs which hit financially. Last time I said this, many here disagreed. But IMO the clubs will only take serious action against this when it hurts them financially. Until that is done, clubs with continue to make useless statements which mean nothing. Because many presidents (including Cagliari) don't see this as a problem. Most of them are living in the 18th century.

An automatic 2 match day stadium ban for the club, and lifetime ban for the ultras caught should do it. Then the clubs will take meaningful steps (stewards, cameras, etc) to stop this disgraceful behaviour.

Im not sure how many times our ultras ,and or all our fans have been banned from entering the stadium since i m an inter fan but i m pretty certain that it has happened more than 10 times yet nothing ever changes. And i m pretty sure they are already handing out lifetime stadium bans to certain ultras yet we re again at this very point.

While i agree that some people should take this more serious we also have to admit that it is a problem that runs pretty deep and that will not be easily solved by a couple of match bans.
For fucks sake did we not get a stadium ban last season after koulibaly got abused yet here we are 6 months later and these very idiots who got us a stadium ban are fucken defending cagliary fans that did the exact same thing.

BUU - and all - so it is a more powerful statement if Lukaku's inter teammates put out strong statements that this is racist behavior and they have his back. This is an opportunity and other that skriniar, i don't know if any other inter players made statements or came out in strong support of Lukaku, did they? Skriniar's response was perfect.

Everyone has an opinion on what Lukaku should be doing and the proper way to deal with this on his end. Fuck that - where are his teammates? where is management? where is the coach? They need to rally and support him strongly.

BUU was nothing more than cheap and impotent virtue signalling. It was never going to change anything, it was merely a half-assed PR stunt to save face and try avoiding the fine at the time.

Full blown surveillance system and under-fed guards with clubs ought to do the trick.
