I think you're massively underplaying what Lukaku did here. His movement was vital for creating the space that allowed us to score goals, and its one reason why Lautaro blossomed under Conte compared to previously. His pace and strength were critical, and his pace was a big part of getting some of the best out of Barella/Bastoni/Hakimi esp on the counter attack.

Ask yourself this - do you think Icardi would have scored as many goals under Conte? For me, not in a million years, he was nowhere near as dynamic moving up the pitch, and while he was a good finisher, he flourished under a very different system. I dont think Icardi would have scored even 70% the goals Lukaku did under Conte, and I dont think he would have let Lautaro etc flourish as much.

I dont know, tbh. I think Lukaku works very well in "Conteball", and we know Conte was quite rigid in his application of the system he wanted the team to play in - look at Eriksen and Skriniar as great examples of that.

I cant imagine Conte-ball being heavily possession focused around their box trying to use creativity to find space for Icardi to score goals, or quite so heavily reliant on crosses

Lukaku could be very useful in Inzaghi's football as well. But I don't know how the group will react if he comes back.

I think the opposite. Dzeko has better technique and ball control than Lukaku and Inzaghiball needs that, something which Lukaku lacks. He could mess up the fluidity of the game we're playing now with his heavy touch and poor ball control.

I doubt he can play possession based football and I'm pretty sure he can't play in tight spaces the way we have been playing lately.

Also, I'd just leave Chelsea with the burden of having Lukaki at 30+ years old with declining physic.

This is him by the way :

I do not want THIS back.

No please. With Conte all our tactics was focused on getting Lukaku the ball in a favorable position. Now we attack much more fluid as Nimaraya mentioned. I'm not ready to see someone screaming for every ball he doesn't get, even if it's an impossible ball to play.

He can kiss the Jube badge next season for all I care.

The way I see it, I'm glad he came to us, scored a fuckton of goals, helped us to a scudetto, and fucked off at a huge profit while doubling his salary.

I'm happy we had him, but I wouldn't want him back. I couldn't care less who he plays for now.

I thought he looked a bit out of shape, clearly not so structured on nutrition in the epl. Wonder if he's either actually unhappy or just living the dream with his fat new contract, no pun.

More of a lifestyle issue than nutrition.
It's far less strict over there and also consider that Tuchel is the strictest of them all with diet.

The nutrition part is different as well, but you don't see that many other chubby players, do you?

I would have thought he would have a personal nutritionist, a chef and that he would have kept his same food choices from his time at Inter.
Could have been on his mind but maybe Tuchel doesn't approve of that.

Tuchel is a guy who sent pictures of every one of his players (including u21s) to restaurants and bars in Paris and requested to be informed if anyone went there, requested their menu and full list of ingredients. Among other things.

The Parisians were baffled at first  Not sure jf that kept going but I know of some cases where some things were kept a secret from him.
He was likened to WW2 conditions, so you can find some memes from when it was first out if you're looking for an unfiltered laugh.

Tuchel prefers to play without striker than to use him as a starter in Premier League game against Aston Villa.

Kaku with a nice header, always scores past Villa.

Also he is just back from COVID so thats why he didn't start.

EDIT; 66th min, mount.. this shows exactly why Lukaku is not banging them in, he rarely gets service especially in key areas.
