Oh, I agree, but you think Van Dijk isn't going to make Dzeko his bitch either?
there is only time to see. so just because lukaku sucks against any big team is non existant now everybody else will be because lukaku is a standard for all the attackers in the world lol. come on lukaku sucks because he sucks is one dimencional and has nothing to offer even pace because top teams in other leagues no op ones but clubs tipe of shaktar/sevilla/munchengladbach were containing him with easy even sparta lol

My point is I think Van Dijk will find it easier, and make Dzeko more of his bitch, than he would with Lukaku
Personally

I could well be wrong, find out in 8 weeks
We won't find out anything, we are doomed to lose anyway.

Lmao your earlier comparison regarding suazo vs Ronaldo would back your argument. We played against the same team whilst having a weaker team on paper(compared to last season inter) but the other player delivered, it's as simple as that; plus Lukaku was the focal point of our attack and he did nothing. Oh yea, he stood there gracefully denying Sanchez's goal like a moron he is, dude didn't even try to move away.
so we'll just ignore the fact that Lukaku faced a Shakhtar that beat Real Madrid twice in a season, whereas this year Dzeko faced a Shakthar that didnt win a single game (for example)?

Or that they had several different players?

etc, etc.

It's a bit unfair to compare 35-year-old Dzeko to 28-year-old Lukaku. Other one makes 5m a season and cost nothing to get him to a contract, other one makes over 10m a season (and made 8m at Inter) and was sold for 115m.

We simply cannot do these one-to-one comparisons in a vacuum without the (financial) context. Or then we could say "what about Vlahovic or Haaland, they are surely better than Dzeko, it's a disaster we have Dzeko"

AND EVEN THEN, I don't really know what would be the price point (transfer fee and salary wise) I'd take Lukaku rather than Dzeko, knowing our resources are limited and funds can be used elsewhere on the pitch too.

and we could make the same argument about Dzeko. Failed to score vs Spezia, Venezia, Empoli, Verona, etc etc....

I'm not talking about peak Dzeko, I'm talking about the guy who is going to be 36 like 2 weeks after the Liverpool 2nd leg...

I'm pretty sure even I could stop Maradona from scoring now.
Peak Dzeko? 2019 wasn't his peak. It was peak Van Dijk, though...

unlike lukaku if you watch a matches dzeko plays playmaker as well. i be if dzeko was jus standing around at penal box and ball only come o him he would score many goals but guy plays 30 meters from goal creating chances or linking up plays. one game he played close to box when he came of bench scored a goal and earn a penalty

Peak or not, I'm still focused on the Dzeko that is likely to start versus Liverpool this year. I have no contest that, in his day, he was one of the best strikers around, I've always been a fan since before he went to City (was a great signing in Football Manager back in the day).

re Cafe's point. I agree as well. Dzeko is a great signing from the financial perspective, and considering what we've paid for him, he's absolutely brilliant. No beef whatsoever there. But its a department that is lacking goals and quality if we want to take a step up. I'm not even saying Lukaku is the answer to that - I do agree with some of the other posters who said if we had the chance, would probably go for Vlahovic instead.

we dont need a playmaker, we have 2/3 of them in this team already. We need a fucking goalscorer.

Also, Lukaku nailed 16 assists in 2 seasons at Inter - I appreciate thats not a direct measure of his qualities as a playmaker, but as a useful and quick stat, its a good start.

I think he'd have him moving around the pitch even more than he did under Conte, playing a little deeper perhaps, more involved in build up play, but still scoring goals.

I think Lukaku would still hit 25 a season under Inzaghi quite comfortably.

Lukaku has the strength and pace. His technique is a bit lacking, dont get me wrong, but his link up play worked quite well at times, and I think that would be an area Inzaghi would focus on. Under this Inzaghi ball, the pace, runs Lukaku could make, etc, would still add a lot of value.

Whether it'd be enough for us to get past Liverpool - I dont know. But I dont think we'd have a 1 goal in 3 months from one of our key strikers. (Alright, this is a bit of an exaggeration, but I think the point is still pretty clear)

I'm not trying to be rude here, but after your comments about Muntari, how you got banned from another forum, and you've hit on the race of players a few times, etc... Are you a racist? Do you have a blinkered view of Lukaku because of skin colour?

Anyway, for the sake of argument, lets assume not.

Yes, Lukaku is quite a frustrating player to watch, I dont really like the way he was a bit petty and complaining about balls that didnt go his way, for example. But you also cant detract from the fact that he hit 16 assists in 2 years at Inter (According to Transfermarkt), 60+ goals, which is hardly consistent with the player you're describing.

The player you're describing, to me, is Icardi. Lukaku worked hard for Inter, ran a lot, put in good pace, was good on the counter attack as well as around the box, created well for his team mates (I'll never forget that assist and Lautaro's goal in the CL for example).

No, I'm genuinly askinig because you seemed to get into a race discussion on XT and got banned, so I'm asking?

We had a hard time getting a ball to him against top teams becauase, tbhh, our midfield isn't as good as people on here think. Dzeko is better at dropping deeper, but we sacrifice goals for that right now.

In the last couple of seasons you could have pretty much have swapped any striker in the world up front and they would have struggled against the big teams. The lack of service isnt just the striker. It's the overall quality of our team. As I said in the last few months, I dont know how many of these players you'd actually keep if we wanted to build a team that regularly competed in the CL Semi Finals. If you put sentimentality aside for a second, I'd say it might only be 2-3 (based on form at the start of the season, it is probably a little higher now).

IF, and I hope this isnt the case because I want us to go to the quarter finals, Dzeko gets marked out of the game by Liverpool and gets very little service, will that be a fault of Dzeko or the team?

What questions do you want me to answer? Be specific and I'm happy to.

No, no beef with Dzeko, he was one of the best strikers in the world in his heyday, and I'm really glad we have him at Inter - esp considering our financial constraints. I would like to see more goals from him, though. Which isn't exactly harsh criticism considering he's scored 1 league goal in the last 9 games? The same is also true of Lautaro, btw, I'm very disappointed he had 25 shots in the CL and had 0 goals to show for it.

Dzeko is probably tied with Hakan for signing of the season for me. To step into the boots of a 115m striker and not look a million miles out of place as a free signing is really impressive. But that doesn't change the fact that our strikers aren't as good as the rest of the team currently.

Transfer of the season is Lukaku leaving. Hands down.

It liberated us offensively.

Imho we would be stupid to not atleast look at Lukaku, he knows the team he knows the club works well with lautaro, at least by next season we need a dzeko replacement.
Dzeko has been great thus far but he is 35........

If chelsea are desperate enough to give him at a huge discount and he is ready to take a pay cut why not?

It s not like we have hundreds of other great CF options that are dying to come here.
