His lack of awareness in the aerial duels is worrying. Dzeko is superior in this aspect but in overall Lukaku has been better though. Very well played on Lautaro's goal, but at the same time very nice run in the first goal. But honestly in open play he has to do way better IMO.

Forum are for sharing/discussing opinion. I think we should absolutely never buy him/extend his loan because he is getting old and is too expensive, my opinion. Either you can debate it or you can ignore it, this is not the Lukaku echo chamber.

Good thing Pocchetino is going to take him back. I can't think how people would lose their mind if any other player in the team turned useful only at the end of the season. The second the UCL final is over we should look into signing younger modern strikers. If we didn't have Lautaro able to play all the games in the season even with an ankle injury and Dzeko having a great first half of the season, we would've been out of everything a long time ago, Lukaku or no Lukaku.

Openda, Thuram, Hojlund, Balogun in my opinion can be interesting (30-40M) striker partners for Lautaro, I'd consider Dia as a low cost alternative who knows the Serie A but it's risky because having watched him with our national team I think he is not good enough. Still scored his goals this season so... We can go for a cheaper option on the bench if we offload Correa too. If we're reallyt set on Retegui, taking Thuram and him could be OK . Assuming we insert Colidio in the Retegui dea, that is.

Hahahaa come on. Hojlund is the only one that can reach Lukaku’s level out of the one‘s you mentioned and he will costs us 60mill minimum considering Prem clubs are after him so he’s not realistic at all

Boulaye Dia who is a Villareal reject came to Serie A and is about to finish third top goalscorer, it doesn't take THAT much to perform well as striker in Serie A. Thuram presents the typical physical attributes we'd look for if we were set on getting a direct replacement for what Lukaku brings us. Openda is a different profile but still brings some much needed speed and versatility to our game.
I included Hojlund because I'm pretty sure with how eager we're when throw out our young players I'm pretty sure we wouldn't struggle to make an interesting offer to Atalanta.
Retegui I know less about but imo, as long as he is not our designated starter I wouldn't say no, I've watched him with the nazionale, that's it.

I really don't think replacing Lukaku would be that difficult, he is playing well lately but still miles from his level under Conte, pretty much all his speed is gone and the initial burst he had hasn't been seen this season. Replacing someone like Lautaro or Barella in our budget would be nearly impossible but not Lukaku. I think it wouldn't be smart to keep trying to get him on loan instead of trying to build on the long term. The last young prospects we bought were Barella/Lautaro/Bastoni, Hakimi was proven at the point we got him. Other than that we've been stacking old/very old players, on top of the basic squad we had. The only exception are free agent Onana and Calha. Not counting Correa who is Inzaghi's girlfriend.
