This is more worrying than losing Lukaku. If Marotta not happy because he felt being deceived and he wants out, we are literally doomed.
I would think in this covid era, having money can be really useful if you are creative. It appears that we will get 2 strikers to replace Lukaku, possibly combination of young striker with potential and another one that is considered proven. one of them could be big signing but the other must be cheap or both of them medium deals, possibly around 30-40 million. It could be combination of Vlahovic/Dzeko, Zapata/raspadori, Belotti/Correa. Obviously, lots of names come up recently including Kean.
There are also lots of good players in big clubs that the clubs want to offload including Jovic, Coutinho, Abraham, and even like Werner. They are all possibly available with loan+ option to buy. Hence, the risk are smaller although it command big wages. We did not consider these opportunities before because we dont have the budget for wage this season and dont have the money for next season to buy anyway.
What I am saying is that the opportunities for us, if we have the money in this Covid era, are a lot. Of course, every transaction is like gamble but surely it is somewhat exciting for us. But again, if Marotta don't like this probably he knew there is no other good options that will be fit for Inzaghi's plan.
I would say splashing big money for Lukaku was different, in terms of risk, with now if we are chasing a new striker. I think Lukaku's deal was a minimum risk given that Conte specifically wanted him since years before and has formation that required specific player like Lukaku. But now, I dont think Inzaghi specifically want any of Vlahovic, Zapata or Belotti. It is rather that Inzaghi will modify his tactical plan to adjust with whoever comes in. So splashing big money now for a new striker would command a bigger risk compared to when we splash the money for lukaku.
