Pastorello replies to fan's question: You will hear our reasons soon, however it turns out.

Nothing extraordinary, the situation is as know here. Inter is pushing Lukaku out but the backlash might actually turn it upside down.

At this point I hope we sell, going back as if nothing had happened feels impossible. Of course this hope includes our ability to use most of the sale money too (and investing it in a smart way!)

Di Marzio also says Chelsea aren't willing to offer more than 115-120m, including the player, while Inter value the player at 130m.

Visiting this forum is starting to become a burden. Every time I open a thread it's some more ridiculous news about our ineptitude.

115 or 130m, whatever will be, it's an overpaying for Lukaku. And I like the guy

A player is worth what someone will pay. He’s worth it because a) he’s really good 2) what he can do is hard to find (and replace).

So how did you get it so wrong?

This is what Ernesto Paolillo was quoted as saying about Zhang:
“It’s sad that they don’t want to invest or believe in this club. I think it’s the end for Suning at Inter. If nothing else, they’ve proved that they just want to make as much money as possible and keep it going until they find a buyer for the club, at which point what happens will no longer be their problem. »

This is more or less what I said two months ago, when I posted the following:

What Zhang is also not saying is he doesn’t want to sell the club at a discount. So he would rather sell its biggest assets, the players. Don’t be under any illusion, this club is for sale and once the big players are auctioned off inter will be sold

You mocked me for saying this.

So who looks like they don’t know what they are talking about now….Mr.Zhang

What did I get 'so wrong'? I've been posting balanced opinions. Just becauase someone can hit the sign up button doesn't mean people have to accept their blithering opinions.

Many people, myself included, said coming into the transfer window that 120-130m for Lukaku was a good deal and we should instantly take it. Yes, it'd have been better to have kept Hakimi, but if there was no offer from Chelsea (chasing Haaland/Kane), then it's irrelevant isnt it?

And I still stand by that - 130mil for Lukaku IS a good deal. It's the BIGGEST transfer ever in Serie A history - topping out Pogba, Zidane, Higuain, Ibrahimovic, and I'm sure many others could be named as well. The only relevant question is how much money will be reinvested. 20-40mil - I'd be pretty pissed off. 60-80mil is okay. More than 80 would be fairly generous considering the circumstances.

Having one superstar (at an overinflated market value no less, IMHO) isn't necessarily the optimal outcome, building a better team is.

I've also repeatedly said for months that I think Suning SHOULD sell, and that they are probably going to sell. I dont think it'll be this season (my bet), probably within the next couple though. The domestic situation in China is clearly an issue, and I suspect that needs to pay out. If you want to remove credit from Suning, you also need to give credit to them for building this team from proper banter era shit show in the first place. Even ifi we do lose Lukaku, Hakimi, hell even De Vrij - this team right now is still FAR stronger than the one they inherited. The FACT you cannot avoid is that they've invested probably £300million+ in Inter. I don't have the figure on hand for the total amount of debt to equity conversions they've done, but in the first 6 months of last season alone, they did £70m conversions. That's not the actions of someone who wants to milk Inter dry and take every penny out. They've never taken a single dividend, sold off club assets (e.g. media/brand rights to a third party company - which, oh look, barcelona have done!), or anything like that. The lack of gratitude for owners who have put in so much money to bring this club back from a low of 9th place to 2nd, and 1st, is just shocking. And, yes, have no doubt - if it wasnt for the CCP restrictions and COVID, we'd be in a much healthier position. They took risks and gambles (as ever business does), and unfortunately it didnt pay off entirely for circumstances outside of their controls. Like many businessses have failed and will continue to do so in the last couple of years.

Point being, none of this entitles you to accuse me of being a Zhang shill or anything like that. Just because I don't feel like jumping onboard the - frankly racist - bandwagon of 'Fuck Suning and all chinese', doesnt mean I'm a 100% zhang supporter. I try to provide balanced opinions wherever possible. And yes, I'd like an ownership change. But I'm also not going to hold out hope for an Elliott-style owner who is willing to invest literally £1billion+ in 3 years into the club, because when Milan implodes, it's going to be far worse than Inter. We need a sustainable business model, because in that scenario (aside from Glazer-style ownership), our owners wont actually matter. For the first time probably in the club's HISTORY, we'll be capable of standing on our own two feet. And that, to me, is worth more than winning another scudetto or even a Champions League. That's how Inter continues for generations, and grows into a top top club.

Anyway, as part of my promise to myself when I decided to get active again, I'm not engaging with idiots anymore. I've been an Inter fan longer than you've probably even heard of this club, and I'm sure I'll be around supporting this club long after you've moved on to something else. Even if we go bankrupt and are refounded in Serie D as Internazionale Milano FC 2022. Have fun and bye!

Alrighty, I think I'm taking a bit of a break from FIF and Twitter for now, probably over the weekend, as this is getting silly and I'm getting overly vexed. Have fun and try not to spend too much time refreshing Fabrizio Romano's Twitter page guys 😅

If I come back and Lukaku's gone with Scamacca/Belotti as the replacements, I'm deactivating.

I may not agree with EVERYTHING you’ve said in this thread, I’ve found you to be one of the only calm voices of reason that can explain their viewpoint respectfully and clearly. It’s greatly appreciated. forza inter
