We need to have a legitimate option on the bench in the event Onana doesn't work out. I'm hoping Handanovic on reduced wages will be that guy. If not, we need to make sure we bring in someone like a Sportiello, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Problem here is that guys like Sportiello are already at the same level as Onana, maybe higher, and they won't be easy to bring over if the idea is that they'll be last resort options. They can find similar deals at clubs with similar ambitions and potentially a secure starting spot at that.

Our alternative is Dragowski but he won't come since Onana is arriving. We're going to Padelli territory. Someone like Luigi Sepe is the best we can do if Handanovic leaves, unless we decide to overpay for the 2nd GK spot.

Handanovic makes 3.2m, we're offering him 1.5m now. Onana's deal is 3m. There's no way the backup will earn 1.5m, it'll be probably a little north half of that.


The idea is not bad, but Onana does not have what it takes to be the guy who we can lean on for the next years. We need a top 10 GK, not someone who hasn't played and isn't considered the first choice at his club either anymore.

I've watched him since 2016-17, which pretty much covers his entire professional career....

You also realize that Ajax made it to the CL semis in 2019 and the EL final in 2017? Onana was part of those teams. Maybe if you weren't so hooked on your video games you'd realize that there's actual football going on and there's people who watch that crap.

Radu at Genoa was the worst goalkeeper in serie A. I know as i watched all of his games until he was sent to Parma, where he sat on the bench for the rest of the year.

arsenal for last few years needs a keeper and they play that tiki taka possession from back football. and tthey did not want a risk of paying a fee and then i turns out he is a bust. they only wanted him for free epl club that has boat load of money
