Being "the club that dethroned Juve after 8 straight scudetti" has a better ring to it than "the club that finally made it out of the group stages of the CL"

Man, I don't care about the monetary side of our performances, I guess neither does the management. Prize money =/= revenue.

A Scudetto and a Coppa bring clout. Recording stupid songs and uploading them to SoundCloud doesn't generate money, but the clout it generate does.
Ofc winning Scudo >>> CL 2nd place, but CL 2nd & Serie A 4th >>> CL 3rd & Serie A 2nd, in both revenue and exposure. Not only prize money.

The prioritizarion depends on how Conte judges the probability. You cant say him wrong if he thinks the chance of surpassing Dortmund in 2 matches is higher than surpassing Jube over 33 matches. Considering the crazy depth they have.

I dont think having a priority means anything. It's about whether a team is equipped the perfect balance of skill, experience, and leadership to compete for three competitions. At the moment we are not, but the objective is to win every possible game.

Well, true - but CL 3rd & Serie A 4th >>> CL 3rd (or even 2nd) & Serie A FIFTH. The point is that we are nowhere near strong enough to take any serie A opponent lightly, be they sampdoria or other. For now we are doing great, but realistically we are still only the 3rd best team in Italy (at most) unless Conte is an even better coach than I think - and I think he's pretty good. And if the 3rd best team starts resting its players or saving them for bigger games, the chances are we will start losing a reasonably solid grip on a top four spot in the league, while at the same time having pretty little chance of going much beyond the group stages in CL.

Bottom line: if a player is genuinely tired, sure, rest him. But I wouldn't do that for the sake of a questionable player rotation strategy. So I want to see a strong lineup against samp.

Pretty solid line up, would be great to see Bastoni start. Hopefully this means Candreva doesnt play against Barca but I doubt that.

I have an idea, lets play our complete primavera team, and just replace Lukaku with Samuele Longo, so we can rest everyone.

On a serious note, dude, they are pro athletes, they dont get tired like you or me would get tired if we played a game every 3-4 days, its the beginning of the season, and if we are putting di Marco in round 6 of Serie A, than we shouldnt have any hopes for Scudetto. di Marco plays for teams that are fighting relegation, not for Champions.

Look guys, we aren't winning the CL, let's face it. I'd like us to throw our best in the league and hope for a Juve slip-up than "rest" players in the league and inevitably fail in both tournaments. Next year, yes, I'd be in favour for trying to get the best out of both but we just don't have the bench currently.

nah fuck this mentality fam, tripleta here we come

I have to agree, what's the point of chasing CL table positions for years if you are not going to be trying your best once you are in. Juventus is rusty and Barcelona has one of the weakest squads in years, Liverpool isn't winning twice in a row, Ajax is picked apart, Real is going through a crisis. Not saying there is a chance for us to win it or anything overly optimistic like that, but it's been a while since Europe was balanced like this.

"Focusing on the league" is for Napoli. And we all saw how that ended for them.

It takes time to build up to win the CL. We arent gonna win it as a 3rd pot team. We need to boost our rankings and revenue and start building a team for it. We arent winning it with our bench and midfield and strikers let's be blunt. A few changes could see us being reasonably competitive.

is far from over yes but im sure that we will focus on serie a and having players like Vecino and Rannochia in the second squad will make only problems. We don't have 2 squads, we can't play every 3 days with the same players.

Most if not all of you are making very strong arguments..but we have to put our best performance in every game..come January there will be reinforcements!!! For now we have to leave everything on the field in both the calcio and in Europe...as for the ucl the group is wide open with everyone being on same points. Barella and Sensi have astonished me this far!!! Imagine come January we get someone like SMS or Eriksson then we can probably speak about challenging for UCl!!! Forza Inter..
