And yet I still have to push against the argument that this team is world class. It isn't, and that's okay.
In March 2025, which teams are world class?

There was a not-so-small contingent of Inter fans who thought Lautaro deserved a Ballon d'Or shout last season. It's interesting. Different people seeing different perception of this team out there. I think I never heard anyone calling Lautaro WC for example. Especially not fans and people on social media. I also don't really care about this WC term and is some player is that or not.
Agree with you on a part that @.h. quoted.
Finally someone speaking the truthAs far the public and media perception goes, I think people overrate Lautaro, Frattesi (who I think would play better in a different system), Calhanoglu, Dimarco, De Vrij and Zielinski. The reality is that these are all really good players, but I wouldn't say any of these are world class. The best two on this list - Dimarco is too inconsistent, same with Lautaro. It's like we only see them in their peak form about a third of the season and that seems not good enough if you want to call Dimarco or Lautaro World Class (which people do, and I'm not talking about this forum).
Bastoni and Barella are the only ones that are so highly rated and it feels like the truth. Like prime, top3 players in their position in the world. Acerbi, Sommer, Dumfries, Thuram and Pavard are also correctly rated - I think most people would give them a 4/5 rating. Augusto is underrated, but okay that's my bias.
Let it be known that I do not need even one world class player for Inter to be winning a lot of titles. World class players are a rare commodity and we don't have the money to compete with Real Madrid type of club that keep buying WC players. What we have is a really good core that would make us instant CL contenders if we added a world class player in attack (striker or wingback) + that new CB we are all screaming for. This is how GOOD we are and that's amazing. Some of us already believe we are CL contenders, just not the main culprits for it.
I also think that some of these players I mentioned have enough potential to become even better and that makes me happy that we are still keeping our core.
I do hope we'll have the full squad (-Zielinski) ready for Bayern and we show the world what's up. Maybe then I'll update my overrated/correctly rated/underrated list.
Agree with most, except for Lautaro; I think if a striker is consistently banging goals 95% of the time has to do with form.As far the public and media perception goes, I think people overrate Lautaro, Frattesi (who I think would play better in a different system), Calhanoglu, Dimarco, De Vrij and Zielinski. Funny CDK is worth more than Leao now.
this seems off
People worry about numbers too much. Even if the season ended tomorrow— 10goals and 8assists playing for a champions league serie a side as a 20yr old is damn impressive. By the time this guy is dominating the league, it will be too late and he’ll be worth 75mil. I don’t see how you can watch this guy and not be at least a little impressed.. but different strokes for different folks they say. You also have to consider playstyle and Castro very much a good fit for a front 2 imo.
We wouldn’t end up spending 40mil cash if we get him. There are a few player in discussion between him, Fabbian, Asllani— there will be some kind of deal worked out here.
Actually they made a lot of money with CL this season, and the sales of Califiori and Zirgzee.Agreed he fits and he looks very promising, but if we know it then Bologna knows it and I'm not sure they would accept some exchange deal. This guy is their chance to make real money imo
