Esposito is a technical little player. He’s definitely disappointed in serie B, but he’s still a teenager.

He bossed primavera as a 16-17 year old. Maybe that step to the next level will take some time, maybe it won’t happen at all. I’d be open to selling him for a decent offer.

A great club with a tradition of developing young players. Much better than an unstable club in the bottom of Serie A. However, the Basel supporters has been very unsatisfied with their current owner(s) and their direction of the club meanwhile YB has as well done exceptionally well in the league over the last few years. Esposito can be the missing piece for Basel and be the change the supporters are hoping for. I will definetely follow the Swiss league again this season.

Yeah in a sense it's good to go to a club which is fighting for titles. That brings the certain winning mentality to your mindset when it's expected to win the title (they haven't won it in 5 years now). And it's honestly probably better for Esposito at this stage of his development (19 years old) to get real playing minutes. In Italian clubs, it's so hard to get minutes when you are such a young player. Have the trust of the coach.

So let's hope he gets minutes in the Swiss league and score some goals.

Young Boys has done exceptionally well in the league but the departure of Gerardo Seoane to Leverkusen could be a turning point for them.

Basel has had a very difficult end to the last season. I have just read that, their majority clubowner, who bought his shares in 2017, tried to sell his 75% shares of the club to an unknown English company behind closed doors which generated alot of anger on the stands. However a former player, Degen, bought the shares instead in may and sold parts of them to local investors. It seems like Basel finally has football interested clubowners.

I knew there was a lot of hate towards the former clubowner but not that a local group of investors managed to purchase the shares. Great news as it could make the club competitive again.

Personally I hope YB manages to keep performing well with a strong return of Basel as well. It would be nice if one of the Zürich clubs would have a financial power to be a part of the top too but it is more a dream than reality. A strong Swiss league could be a great place for young talents to develop.

Started and scored in first game of the season.
Males was subbed out at half.
He could be a real deal with Basel. I also noticed his shirt is No. 9. It may indicate that he is the main striker and he might be a sure starter for the whole season. Fantastic.

Basel is also playing europa league this season. Would be interesting to follow them this seqson.

Don't have one.
This will do fantastic for his confidence but man the Swiss league looks bad
That's exactly the point. Other young players should follow his example and try things abroad. Dutch league, swiss even austrian, you build confidence and then try yourself again in stronger league. Much better path then rot away in top leagues playing for genoa, espanyol etc.. like longo, pinamonti, salcedo and so on...

You can see the talent in Esposito, he just needs to play a lot instead of just being kept on the bench in Italy. Loaning him somewhere where he can play instead of being the sub for some 34+ striker in Serie A is a good thing.

are these competitive matches or friendlies?

TBH, I dont really care what level he's playing at, he just needs to play and score regularly. It might be good for him to bully and show some top class skills against older players.
