Celta Vigo star striker Iago Aspas is another shock exclusion after a sterling campaign, while Real Betis midfielder Sergio Canales and Sevilla full-back Jesus Navas are also not included despite their strong form.

Other notable omissions include Atletico Madrid duo Mario Hermoso and Saul Niguez, while Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino – who has suffered fitness issues.

Also Llorente on the bench and Moreno as a right winger when he came on??

What a night at Wembley! I think I aged a decade, but totally worth it. Being an Inter fan is good practice for watching Azzurri play like this!!

Looks like a team mostly consisting of “FaRmErS lEaGuE” players is going to the final of the Euro. Worked out pretty nice I must say, I guess you reap what you sow 🤷

Chiesa said his goal was like one of his dad's. Sure that was my impression as well.

Italy beat 2 top teams away from home. Basically without strikers. They looked drained though, especially Barella.

Best picture I've seen so far in the tournament.

It's like an old relative of your grandparents asking you if you're the grandkid.

I might be being harsh, but I thought pessina was totally worthless last night. Don't know how he is above Locatelli in the pecking order

Same person who picked K-dog above Kovacic in the pecking order.

I was confused by this too. I think Mancini let a couple of goals sway his opinion of the player. Locatelli is clearly the superior option.

It's strange. Before last night's match Mancini had been very consistent with midfield subs; Barella's sub was Pessina, Verratti's sub was Locatelli, and Jorginho never comes off. Last night he deviated from this plan for seven minutes and that's the window of the match in which Italy conceded.

1. I would have much more faith in Italy if they had a real striker. Belotti is better than Immobile in some ways but is still kind of shit. Immobile on the other hand turns into shit every time he plays for the national team.

2. Barella was shit last night. Let's put it down to fatigue and pretend it never happened.

3. As I was watching towards the end of the match, all I could think was "imagine letting Morata destroy you like this". Shocking how they made fucking Morata of all shitters look so dangerous when he came on. Thankfully, he reverted to regular mode for his penalty.

4. I'm going to be pissed off for a long time if England beat Italy in the final should they qualify.

5. Been saying since 2018/19 that Chiesa is Italy's best and brightest young player. Not Barella, not Bastoni, not fucking Sensi or Zaniolo. He'll be a fucking pain in our ass for a generation yet.

I don't believe in Immobile, he has his friends from Pescara days (Veratti and Insigne) and still not click, he's not type of striker for tournament. In contrast I think Chiesa is best for the format, he's type of player for moment, in the league he's ok but not a killer, his selfishness doesn't help him

I think his strongest asset beside his speed is definitely his mentality, just like Barella; dude doesn't look fazed or scared even in the most nerve wrecking moments. His shooting improved alot last season.

New guy, you probably have the worst takes on football talent on this site, you don't wanna go there.

As for what "above average" in this sense means, it obviously does not mean above average from the tens of millions who play the sport around the globe, but for the level he's expected to be playing. For that level, he's just barely above average yes. Quite easily replaceable for a team like Barcelona during all these years.

He's not a good defender, he's not a great passer, he's not a great shooter, he's not a good runner, he's a shit tackler, he's not a great marker but he's very good at first time passing whether it is to recover the ball or receive it from a teammate [which isn't related to quality forward passing, but it's mostly lateral/close range passing], excellent tactically & in terms of positioning and solid in the air. That's Busquets. You could find 15 more of these guys, despite the praise he keeps getting for laying the ball to Messi and getting credit for Messi spinning around 7 defenders till he scores! Just another player who gets hyped because he was at Barcelona who has a policy of not eating its own children. The same Barcelona that people tried to force feed us Oleguer as a quality defender or Valdes as a top GK...

Yes, Busquets has his uses, but he's overrated as fuck. Replace him with someone like De Jong*, Jorginho, Verratti etc and you have an instant upgrade.

* Oops, he already kinda has...
"he is not a great passer"

haahahahahah

Looks like you need new friends 😅
Not my friends, met these guys in the stadium. Obviously I had to ask which team they were supporting since there was no Milan player in either squad :yao:
