I can't help but think that this is the exact type of situation that we needed, regardless of the outcome. A bit of a boost for our Scudetto aspirations, following an abysmal summer transfer market.
This is why I am a bit at a loss as to why people would prefer Ronaldo to stay, rather than leave. It's somewhat like the Lukaku discussion- sell him now when his value is the highest, and we will build for the future. That might be true, but as with the Ronaldo case, it is about giving up a certitude for a potential outcome depending of a multitude of factors.
The certitude is that Ronaldo has been one of the best players in history, and by far the best Juventus players for the last 2 seasons. He carried them over and over. He is a certitude, at least for one more season, if not two. Whereas the others stepping up- that depends. Maybe they will, and then it's great for them long-term that Ronaldo left. But there is a good possibility that they won't, not from the start at least. That they will require a change of plans and re-accommodation. And this gives us a better chance for the Scudetto race, unless our team bottles it unexplainably (but so typical of us).
If he leaves, Juve lose their best player, the star of the championship and the best proof of their ambition and superiority over Serie A in the last decade. That will be difficult to replace, and at least in terms of star-power, it brings them closer to us after losing Romelu. In my view, this disturbance can only benefit us in the short term.
