I understand they don't have CL revenues anymore, but this seems a bit much. Their moves so far made sense, Ederson & Lookman were smart moves to cover for their sales. But now with Freuler & Malinovskyi I am confused as to what they are trying to achieve. Is this the end of the Atalanta fairy tale or will they rise like a Phoenix yet again?

they are a selling club who goal is to make europa league. With Juve back to being a monster, Milan and Inter at the top. Their chances of champions league are very slim. + Roma has invested heavily. I think they are cutting their losses. They also have Napoli and Lazio to compete with in those euro spots.

Atalanta doesn't have money to perpetually stay at the top, they never did. They just hit the gold in terms of recruitment a few years ago, milked it as much as they could, and they are hitting the reset button in hope they can do it again. I even think a couple of their players stayed way too long and lost their value. In their consistency, they kinda forgot they should be a selling club first.

well they should start renovating the team year ago, they need fresh blood, you cant play with forza and getting everithing out of players for years, we saw that last year with them,

as I see it Simeone does this with Atletico for years and Ferguson did it all the time with United, he kept some players he trust and rotated the rest and he really know his bussines so lets not go into that...

as for Gio transfer- great deal, I love it, imagine him instead of Dzeko

they have depth to their squad we have 8-9 good to great players

GK - the new guy seems like Ospina... great reflexes but can't catch the ball.... up in the air about him or if he can even bench Handa who is hit or miss

Defense - Bastoni and Skriniar are top class but will we sell them? De Vrij is past his due date.

MF - this is strong when we consider we kept our 3 starters + Dumfries (if not sold) ... then we have Gosen who was great for Germany and Atalanta but will that transfer to us?

Attack - I mean we got our best #9 back but lost depth by getting rid of Sanchez and then having Dzeko who is way past his due date + a super injury prone striker in Correa.


To me we have 2 great defenders, 2 awesome CFs, 2 world class MFs in Barella and Brozo then pretty good players in Dumfries and Hakan. Hopefully Gosen is the player we all expected him to be. But we have no bench. We got rid of all our promising youth players either sales or loan, Vidal, Sanchez......

IF any one of our starters gets injured or red carded we are totally FKd.
