Rating Inter's Transfer Business so far, its been a lot of good deals under very limiting financial constraints but also some glaring misses.

F340JB4XcAACBsf

GK: Inter did well here, all things considered. All change, with Sommer, Audero & Di Genaro coming in. Sommer ensures that the current quality doesn't dip too much, however Inter sacrificed long term quality for money. €46m gain, Rating 7/10

Defence
: D'Ambrosio replaced by young Bisseck was a great move, but Inter are yet to replace Skriniar. €7m spent, Rating is 5/10. However if Inter do close Pavard or someone of that quality & suitability, the Rating could go up to 9/10.

Wingback: Cuadrado & Augusto are a big upgrade on free/loan deals, plus money earned from the sale of Gosens. This was excellent business navigating crippling financial constraints like a boss, Moratta-style. Wingbacks are a critical component of Inzaghi's game & now with 4 quality WBs, I'm excited top see what he can do. €13m gain, Rating 9/10

Midfield:
Frattesi is an excellent deal for the future, though Brozovic departing puts a key dependency on Hakan. Sad that the Samardzic deal didn't work out, which could've taken the rating up a few notches. Still a good window, €12m gain as Frattesi is on loan, Rating 6/10

Attack:
Thuram on a free was a great deal & Arnautovic on loan is a perfect fit for Inter's style (I won't be surprised if he has his career's best season) - however he is 34, & IMO we still don't have a starting partner for Martinez - we haven't replaced Lukaku. No spend yet (though €10m committed for Marko next summer), Rating 5/10

Overall
Inter have earned almost €80m on the transfer market after adding some kids sales, but the Overall Rating is 6.5/10. The rating is that high largely due to the money made working under severe financial constraints, with a lot of sales & wage reduction done well. It could have been close to 10/10 if Inter had added Pavard, Lukaku & Samardzic to this (if the latter two had not behaved so unprofessionally) or players of that level quality & fit.

I'll update this once the window closes.

Thanks for your analysis. But you should rate the transfer window not now, but at the end of the season. On paper Thuram and Arnautovic are nothing special. But if their output combine is better than Dzeko + Lukaku, then the Rating would be better than 5/10.

Last season we were depressed with Mikhi and Acerbi, but they proved to be very good additions.

Our striker squad is not ideal. Lukaku & Dzeko fit in very well in our system as a no 9, a role Arnautovic is well suited for as well. But Thuram is more of a support striker, I see him as a back up for Lautaro. Sure, if Arnautovic remains fit & plays every game, we can call this transfer window very clever. But at the moment its very risky to go into a season with 1 proper No 9 and 3 players who play best as support striker. Specially when that No 9 is 34 years old. So if nothing changes by end of the month, the Rating of 5/10 in the striker dept is quite fair.

Agree with bluenine. I’m worried about our forwards and their injury history as well.

Shit, signing another injury prone striker doesn't sound like a good idea for Roma.

Arnautovic is 34..... damn... I'm getting old.... he played very well in his first game but guess he is a Dzeko replacement at this point. It comes down to do get get another CB and how well Thuram does. If he can score at least as much as Lukaku did then a great transfer market all things considered.

Zapata is a 1 season wonder.... I am glad we didnt Panic buy him after Lukaku fkd us

As far as I understood, Roma will pay 6+3.5mln bonuses for Zapata. So, considering that, 10mln for Arnautivic is not a disaster.

Zapata was two years younger.
I liked Arna's interview and words. He said entering Meazza gave him shivers. He was here under Mourinho, our golden years. I trust his motivation and willingness to give it all. It's his last ride in a big club imo. Its not about wages all the time.

Arnautovic will surprise many . His mentality is stronger than Lukaku's . Not a confused mommas boy .

Zapata is much more injury prone, and he looks more finished than Arnautivic. There is no doubt for me why the management decided to spend 10mln on the latter instead on Zapata.

Arnautovic has better skills than Zapata too, and better suited to our system
