Finally, there is potential incoming transfer for this winter. Welcome Dzeko

I can understand the rationale for this swap. All of us are frustrated by our low conversion of the chances we create. Sanchez seems to have lost his scoring ability, while Dzeko knows how to put the ball in the net. He will be a good vice-Lukaku, and in some games where we are just not converting changes, he can provide another focal point upfront along with Lukaku. I get it.

But I cannot shake the feeling that the time to sign Dzeko was 18 months ago. This season he has started looking like a guy who is in decline, just like Nainggolan in his last season with Roma. He will still be a good supersub for a year or two, but I get the feeling that his days of starting games is over. I don't get that feeling yet with Sanchez, his energy levels look good, he is just out of form due to injuries.

And what if the chances dry up? Then we will miss someone like Sanchez. Maybe we should just get Eder and forget about Dzeko? This is a tough one.

Conte: “I won’t talk about Edin Dzeko to Inter because he’s Roma player. If there’s some player unhappy here... we’ll be ready to open negotiations. I’m not asking to sign Dzeko, it’s up to the club. Sanchez is our player, I want him to be focused on the next match”.

Falcao is free :)

Bit Injured but guy might go back to River or MLS

Should do a loan or 6 month contract. See how he does as a Lukaku Vice

Solves our Dzeko issue plus my dream attack in fifa 2018 haha Falcao and Sanchez... just need Cavani :)

This is the most boring Inter's merkato...I even don't remember since when.

Unless Roma have a change of heart, no. We aren't signing anyone. We're so broke we missed a primavera signing to Parma for 500k.

I agree that it's likely not happening, but Dzeko has been left out of Roma's matchday squad today. They need to find a solution or they're left with a 7.5m dead weight.

Don't have one.

I think roma board is just rubbing their hands on thought of sacking fonseca, first sign of bad results and he is out, which is probably the reason why they are not determined to get rid of edin at any cost.

Best case scenario would have been Roma sacking Fonseca and hiring Spalletti. That would free his salaries off our books and let us sign a vice-Lukaku. Whether it be Dzeko or somebody else.

I am in two minds about this. Much as I would like have someone like Dzeko, I think Sanchez could be quite useful as a supersub. Maybe the best solution is if we can get rid of Pinamonti, and get a lower wage vice-Lukaku than Dzeko on a loan. But it does look like the BC partners deal has put a stop on our transfer activity.

Also the coaching change at Chelsea may have fucked up any small chance we had of getting Alonso on a loan - he hardly made the bench for Lambard, but Tuchel started him in the last game and he even scored a goal. In any case, we couldn't get rid of Perisic, so didn't have money for this move anyways. So this ship has certainly sailed.

No dramatic deadline day thread this time? :trollol:

I doubt there was any chance to get Alonso. He has a big salary and Chelsea wouldn't let him go on loan and pay his full salary. And we couldn't add a single cent to our payroll. We just postponed (or are in process to postpone) Nov-Dec salaries to May. :D

There’s no chance for Ivan Perisic to Everton, Inter CEO Marotta announced: “We’re not selling or buying any player today. Christian Eriksen is staying too. The swap deal Dzeko-Alexis Sanchez with AS Roma is off”.

Marotta likes to confirm this again and again. We is broke, bro.

Marotta: 'Never any advanced Sanchez-Dzeko talks'
By Football Italia staff

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta shut the door on Deadline Day and revealed there were never any advanced negotiations to swap Alexis Sanchez with Roma forward Edin Dzeko.

“There was a bit of audacity on the part of the agents of the two players,” Marotta said, according to TMW.

“Beyond a meeting between the directors, we never got into the heart of the negotiations. In compliance with Inter’s indications and guidelines, I still reconfirm today that there will be no entries and exits.

“We can count on an important group.”

Thus, the CEO ruled out a move for Christian Eriksen this winter.

“When you are at a big club, there are no starters and reserves,” he continued. “There are starters and starters.

“Evaluations must also be made on the player’s availability. Conte had an intuition in changing his role and Eriksen himself is a serious professional.”

Marotta reconfirmed that the market is closed for Inter.

“Absolutely, yes,” he said. “We are faced with an extraordinary event. The pandemic has had a strong impact and the model of the past is not sustainable.

“At this moment, we have to deal with the cost of labour, and it must be reviewed, in order not to risk a default.

“We will not entertain any negotiations for big transfers and big salaries.”

Perisic to Everton would be great they need a backup for James and Richilardson

But just the lateness of the offer is bullshit. I’d still take the money and run

They probably only offered a loan with option to buy which means you would only get rid of his wages fo the next 6 months. But even if they offered a purchase it would be 10m at best. You can't find a replacement on deadline day with such a low sum.

Do we need a replacement? We use him as a backup for young. we have that already.

I am just worried we are going to lose Hakimi because we don’t pay real what we owe. We need to keep him and Bastoni at all cost

Are you serious? You want to play the remaining 20 games of the season (21 if we reach Coppa final) with 35 year old Young as your only option on the left? Even in terms of quantity you can't afford losing Perisic without bringing anyone.

The financially savvy thing to do would be to sell Perisic outright and recall Dimarco from his loan. I think Verona have an option to buy him, so that might not be allowed, but otherwise it would work.
