He is still young and is more accomplished than Scamacca in Seria A. Since his move to Napoli, he hasn’t reproduced the same form that he showed at Spal.

Is it more prudent to go for Petagna for 15-20 million or spend big on Scamacca,who may not warrant such a transfer fee?

I don't think we're willing to spend any money in the mercato. There's no long term target. Maybe Kostic, but do we know if Perisic is leaving?

Petagna would probably come on loan, or perhaps in exchange for Vecino, we're not going to spend money for him. And either him or Caicedo would be fine as Dzeko's rotation pal for the remainder of the season. After that, I don't see Caicedo being useful, whereas Petagna may be of more use over the next 2.5-3.5 years.

Salary will be key.
I think we'll end up with Destro or Salcedo if we cannot offload anyone else due to the CL list. Aren't we tight with that?

We absolutely have to go for someone like Scammaca over Petagna. We know who Petagna is as a player and what his ceiling is. He is a back up for a club that we are better then. His best season was at Spal where he was the focus in a relegation level team, and I still believe he scored only 13. Not to mention if you actually watch him he’s just not a quality player. Would rather gamble on Scamacca every time.

But he's going to be replaced by the Perisic sub since Dimarco is considered for the center back roles. We still need an extra one, maybe Sensi/Gagliardini/Vecino will be out of the list to accommodate the backup striker.
