Wasn't there a report from sky stating that it was Raspadori who rejected the move?

Also I thought Marotta had good relationship with Carnevali, how come we're not taking advantage of it.

Yep. That was the only reason the deal didn't happen.

Sassuolo have basically been Juventus B ever since they came to Serie A. Remember the Berardi case when they were pushing him to go to Juve and blocking any move to Inter. Or when they blocked Politano move to Napoli because they were in a title fight with Rube. Or the masked co-ownership cases of Demiral (they rejected a much higher offer from Atletico so he could go to Juve) and Traore (Juve have an option to buy him for just 2m more than Sassuolo initially paid). Or the Locatelli deal on ridiculous terms. And now look how different they treat the cases of Raspadori and Scamacca/Frattesi.

Marotta has indeed a close relationship with Carnevalli but Sassuolo allegiances to Juventus will always come first.

Scamacca and Raspadori deals are not comparable because as it was reported, Dortmund was offering a lot of money for Scamacca allegedly. "Interest abroad" always hikes up the price. I guess we're having troubles trying to figure out a deal with Carnevali. What we should do is tap the fuck out of the player like Juve did with Locatelli. Loca wanted Juve so Sassuolo had to reject Arsenal's 40m€ permanent deal offer.

Realistically we shouldn’t spend a penny more than 30mil for someone like Scamacca. If it turns into a bidding war, we should looked elsewhere.

No worries, Marotta is not in the habit of entering bidding wars.

Quite on the contrary, he publicly sets the targets (so players are aware that Inter are interested) and then ask their agents to wait for Inter`s bid. Players usually reject all other destinations, so Inter gets the player at a reasonable price.
