Don't want to recall this but we had an excellent (indirect) FK taker last year :eek:kay: But he changed his stripes.

I actually really like taider. That was the season we bought him, Belfodil, Icardi, Botta and Laxalt in an attempt to start a youth project. Then we hired Mazarri who ruined it all with his 3-5-fucking-1-1

Ya, Belfodil was played as RWB in that 3-5-2 :D

We can blame Mazzarri as much as we want (and rightfully so), but the reality is ,apart from Icardi, none of them was good enough for Inter. None of them achieved anything significant in their career.

Taider was decent for the first 6 months but he was mostly playing because Mazzarri didn't trust Kovacic defensively. The moment we signed Hernanes in January he turned into a benchwarmer where he belonged. After the Southampton fiasco he had an uninspiring spell at Sassuolo and he eventually went back to Bologna and nowadays he plays somewhere in North America (Canada i think).

Belfodil (aka il nuovo Benzema ) was equally poor for Parma when he returned and he had to go to Belgium to revive his career which granted him a move to Bundesliga.

Laxalt and Botta were never really given a chance at Inter but i can't say i have any regrets about it. Laxalt is a decent wingback but would be nothing more than a backup in here and i have no idea where Botta is. Probably somewhere in South America. That was the problem with that period. We tried to make smart signings but they always ended badly because those players were simply not good enough.

No doubt a lot of the players we've signed in the past decade have been complete shit. But I never agree with using what players achieve (or don't achieve) after leaving Inter as any kind of justification as to whether we did the right thing in moving them on. I care about how they played at that time, at our club. Taider was fine at Inter. So was Rolando, so was Poli, just like Ljajic, Telles, Banega and plenty more. Likewise, I don't consider Medel shit because he's playing in Turkey now, I consider Medel shit because I watched him play like shit at Inter every fucking week for 3 years.

Fact is, someone like Telles or Ljajic played well at Inter and we spent significant amount of money replacing them with players who are actually worse let alone any significant upgrade. What they did afterwards is largely irrelevant in my eyes. I don't give a fuck if Ljajic 'only' managed to play for a midtable team like Torino after leaving Inter before moving to Turkey. That's because the 2015/16 Ljajic at Inter was significantly better than Eder or Gabigol or Candreva or Karamoh or Pinamonti or Palacio and so far, Politano and Keita too.

I also consider Cancelo being our last good set pieces taker. We more or less replaced him with Politano.

However, we need to buy some competent starter that knows how to shoot around the penalty area and convert them. Look at Milik scoring those free kicks a la Lewandowski. Is this something that can be trained like after each training session for 1 hour? Opponents know that nobody is able to pose a threat from direct free kicks, so they can stop and foul us from play. You can`t be a top club without a free-kick specialist IMO.

Is Sneijder a free agent? I'm not even joking

No, he is contracted to Al Gharafa until summer of 2019, meaning that we can offer him a contract :D still 34 :troll:

What a tragic story Sneijder ended up being, entirely thanks to our clubs incompetence. From a Ballon d'Or winner (UEFA stole his award and gave it to Messi) to being sold to Turkey for €7m in 3 years :palm:

Anyway. What's more tragic is that when we had Sneijder I'd be at the edge of my seat with every set piece. Now I just lay slumped back in my chair, yawning and rolling my eyes until some fucking twat blasts it straight into the wall or into row Z.

It's funny how when you really focus on something so specific, like free kicks, that you realise just how dire our situation is. I'd sooner bet on us winning the league this season than on anyone in this squad scoring from a free kick in the remainder of the season.

Perfect timing to mention this today. He was sold to Galatasaray on this day 6 years ago.

The only thing worse than our free kicks are our corners. The best part about our corners is that we get plenty of opportunities during our games. The downside is that our execution is so poor that it is embarrassing. Most of our corners do not even make it past the first man and I often wonder what Spalletti does with the team in training. In recent games, commentators on Bein Sports have also slammed the ineffectiveness of our corner kicks.

Somebody at Inter should make a failed corner compilation and shame our players and coaches.

let's make a well executed corners compilation instead, that would save us a lot of time.

Not Brozović unless if he shoots at goal.

The only consistently good set piece taker especially at free kicks is Sensi, but the guy has been injured most the time. Brozovic is probably second, but he's so inconsistent. He can send a great ball in, then the next two won't go past the first player.

In recent years the best two players we had to take set pieces were Cancelo, who left after a season and then Sensi who has been injured most the season. It's like we're cursed.

We don't buy technical players. By that I mean players who rely on technicality more than any other attribute.

It's partly due to the coaches we've hired in recent years, the players they've selected and the kind of football we play. It's also the way modern football is going with the emphasis on fitness, everyone becoming generic box-to-box types and specialists dying out a bit.

I can't remember the last time we had at least 3 or 4 players who could all dribble / pass / shoot / take set pieces. The kind of 'fantasia' and skills you expected from #10's of previous generations.

Sensi has a bit of it but the last 'magician' we had was Banega. Before him, Ljajic.

Yeah the only other technical player we have is Lautaro. I'd actually like to see him take freekicks seeing as everyone butchers them anyway, but we can't really have the striker taking corners and freekicks further out, so I guess Sensi is the only option we've got.
