It’s clear that we are going nowhere with Conte. The sooner we stop praying for miracle wins and hoping for others to draw, the better. We need to take responsebility and see the reality as it is. We simply aren’t good enough.

And to those who blame Eriksen... I’m not defending him, he’s not playing to his standards, but please look at the facts. Check the reply. He was playing him basically just above the defenders as a defensive midfielder. That’s not his position.

Everyone knows Eriksen is not a rough player like Vidal. He barely tackles.. but that’s not his job either. He’s a creative midfielder that needs freedom to play being strikers and make shit happen.

Maybe? We probably want Real to win to start eliminating Borussia as a competitor for the second place, but honestly we've really fucked this for ourselves.

We should be more worried about Shakhtar than Gladbach as they're already at 4 points. We better hope they drop points in the double header against Gladbach and we get at least 4 against Real. That's they only scenario where we have any realistic chance of qualifying.

Had a legend first half then faded after half time.

Unless something changes quickly, we are going to get vaporized versus Real.

Commentator mentioned that Felix Zwayer was on VAR duty and I instantly knew that we wouldn't get a penalty here and I'm telling you the main ref would have given it but with Zwayer on the VAR it didn't suprise me at all.

Sad we're always unlucky with referees, Lukaku was about to tap the ball but that fucking Shaktar defender pulling his chest with two hands. According to rules that should be a penalty

Eriksen was not a defensive midfielder. He barely dropped deep once. If anything he was too far forward in his short time on the pitch.

The problem is the coach puts him into a game which has deteroriated to absolute shit. By the time Eriksen came on, there was no structure, no teamwork, no linkup play, no runs being made. Just two static banks of players and no one in between. 3 CB's staying back, a 40 meter gap, and every other player in a horizontal line with the forwards. Our famous 307 formation when we're losing or tying a game and we're out of ideas.

Eriksen isn't going to achieve anything there. He pushes forward to attack the box, but he's never going to be effective in such a situation. No joke, we'd honestly be better off throwing Ranocchia on as a makeshift forward like Spalletti used to. At least Spalletti had the humility to admit he was out of ideas with that hail mary Ranocchia sub

If that's the fucking best a €12m/yr coach can do, we'd be better off if Conte admitted defeat and just openly threw Ranocchia on the pitch as a makeshift forward like Spalletti did.

Precisely this. I don't understand why didn't he put Nainggolan in if he wanted the player to play the exact same role. Barella switched to Vidal's spot and Eriksen took Barella's spot. We didn't change our game at all when that sub happened. I don't understand why.

We didn't utilize Hakimi at all, or the bird shit eater. In the first half there were all kind of combinations but we couldn't create any A grade chances. In the second half we did nothing, apart from the glorious Toro chance. Well Lukaku deserved a penalty for that scrambed play but I'm not crying over that shit, we need to have keys to win these type of matches without penalties.

in a perverse way, Real losing this match makes it harder for us. If they'd won, they could afford to drop points against us. Now they're losing, we're actually worse off because they cant afford mistakes vs Inter

We never performed against teams that didn't have to win against us. Maybe for once it would help us to play against an opponent that gives it all otherwise we're gonna see a shitshow a la barca at home last year

DOnt know what you guys see in Hakimi. He is technical, has good ball control etc but lacks Grinta. I may be wrong. But he lacks it.

The expected goals from tonight's game when all the chances are reviewed. I know everyone here loves to shit on conte but what can he do about missing so many chances and martinez missing an open net? Shaktar didn't have one dangerous chance and played with 9 defenders. We paid for not taking our chances.
Sure conte could have subbed on eriksen earlier but this loss is not on him. We dominated borussia and shaktar and have 2 points. Now we need a result against real.

For me the biggest mistake was the Perisic sub, i would have prefered Darmian + Pinamonti (that came in late). I don't care about Eriksen. Maybe he plays in the wrong position but i anyway don't like him. He could have a decent pass but that's all. I never saw something worldclass from him. We already saw him playing in he's position and it was always the same shit. He's just not good enough, simple.

Chances that didn't come from a properly set up gameplay that you would expect from a world class manager. If you look at our gameplay its always about long ball to lukaku and crosses. In contrast to Atalanta's game where they actually know how to pass and counter properly ; their player actually know how to move in to spaces. Its not just about the subs, its about his tactical approach overall.
