Has this guy Inzhagi ever said something controversial

He never seemed to like Inter. Said things recently like "the ref is biased in favor of Inter" in a game between us and Lazio.

If Conte was okay being here, then this guy is in for a picnic.

Everyone has to make their step up to a top club at some point if they’re going to be a top level manager. You never really know just how someone will do until they’re put in the environment. Inzaghi’s experience and track record is actually superior to a lot of the coaches we consider top level today before they got their big shot.

Guardiola - B Team Coach
Conte - Siena (with multiple sackings on his record)
Zidane - B Team Coach
Sarri - Empoli (He had to climb the entire football pyramid)
Allegri - Cagliari (admittedly won coach of the year, but was still considered a failure after his Milan stint)
Mourinho - Assistant coach at Barca/Benfica

I’m choosing to be optimistic because honestly that’s all I can do right now. Just a reminder that every body has to start somewhere. No one wants to be the club that takes the initial risk but everyone wants the reward.

This is the only point that can make me a bit optimistic. However it all depends on the coach himself, he could very well still choke like a lot of coaches before who went from small clubs to big clubs.

One of my best friends is a lifelong Lazio fan and he can't get over losing Inzaghi, he considers him a great manager and wonders how they managed to keep him that long at Lazio.
I am cautiously optimistic about this move.

i have no problem at all with Inzaghi as our new coach. he had made the most of what he had in Lazio. he played some nice and attractive football. he is able to develop some players and willing to work under tight budget. his main formation will slot in right away with our squad.

Marotta has proven several times that his choice of coach is spot on. i dont have strong reason to doubt Inzaghiat this point.

i agree with Brehme that it might work well as long as we dont mess the current roster.

my little hope is Inzaghi would give 4 3 1 2 a shot.

Well, Marotta made a mistake in 2010 when he taught Del Neri could be successful in Juventus, like he was in Samp with him season ago.

But this looks like a logic move. Don't see a better available manager in this price range to continue with Conte's work.

Completely off topic, but his has always made me laugh. The level of delusion of Milan fans that blamed Allegri was off the charts. They sold arguably the 2 best players in the league and replaced them with a handful of spastics and then blamed Allegri for not winning the scudetto and drawing Barca in the CL. People should really go back and look at the Milan squad he had to work with his last year there. Maybe he should have pulled a Conte and weaseled his way out of town after they sold Ibra and Silva.

-Di Francesco
-Giampaolo

Anyone else? Young and promising coaches only.

Stramaccioni maybe?

Outside Italy, maybe you could argue Lampard and probably Arteta.

Ok, Lazio was always been a pain in the ass, interesting to see what happen if Inzaghi is on our side.

Conte might not have faced much "wrath" last season. Conte won 17 of his 19 home games.

Playing in front of the Interisti is a challenging aspect. A challenge neither Conte or the team had to overcome.

None of them had head coach experiences before joining a big club though.

Just realize another candidate is.. Walter Mazzari, very good at Napoli but never been the same after Inter.

There was nothing particularly promising about the likes of Strama/Ferrara/Seedorf/Pirlo etc, just total gambles with no experience.

Montella is pretty comparable to EDF. Good spell at Fiorentina and then total disaster ever since.

I don't put Mazzari in the same category. He was very good at Napoli and let Napoli for Inter (de Laurentis wanted to renew his contract). I don't remember a coach who inherited such a putrid roster as Mazzari. Even for Banter era the material Walter needed to work with was abysmal. And also the whole saga with selling the club from Moratti. He should have stayed at Napoli. The team was good, he won Coppa Italia, was regularly in UCL. Just a bad decision and a downgrade at that moment.

I consider his time at Milan decent. Yes he won the Serie A in his 1st season but I honestly consider that title as Inter losing it more than Milan winning it. However a win is a win and we'll give him that.

However losing the title to an average Juve side that drew 15 games it's a failure in my books. That Milan still had Ibrahimovic and Silva.

I believe that coach of the year was more hate on Mourinho than him deserving it.

Imagine Mazzarri with Hakimi. He would turn Hakimi into the best RB in history of football.

Makes sense, since Mazzarri is the worst coach in the history of football.

Surely are more bad ones than successful ones. But the world don't remember the losers.
Juventus won with Lippi and Conte who were at their first big club as coaches.
Milan has a long list. Sacchi, Capello, Zacherroni, Allegri - none of them trained a big club before.

At Inter we need to go waaay down. I don't put Macio on this list. When Inter started winning Juventus and Milan were decapitated by Calciopoli and we remained the only big boys in town. We didn't wet the bed and won the titles and UCL.
Conte and Trapatonni were Juventus legends. In 1980 Inter won his 12th scudetto under Eugenio Bersellini who came from Sampdoria 2 years earlier. 41 fucking years ago. We need to google it.
Maybe is time to try this option. And by trying mean give him time and not bitching after a few bad results. And if someone says this is not Inter's way, maybe this is one of the reasons Milan has 7 UCL and was for 2 decades arguably the best team in Europe.
