The only reason Inzaghi got us out of the UCL group stage last season was because he was gifted our easiest draw since we returned to the competition. Let's stop pretending it was some coaching feat.
How was the draw easier than the previous two seasons? Heck, Sheriff was actually better than the Slavia team we failed to beat at home!

If anything Inzaghi played against the CL winner in the group and lost to the runner up in the knockout stage.

Who did Conte lose out to?

The toughest draw we had was when Spalletti was here and we genuinely deserved to go through but we fucked it up. (Yes, that means we didn't deserve to go through at the end of the day but normally it wouldn't even need the last game to seal it, Tottenham and their refs robbed PSV)

i have faith on Inzaghi. i dont know why some of you throwing tantrum on him. Inzaghi will fix the problem and we will be competitive again. he did wonderful job in hist first season and now all of a sudden he is considered garbage. lol.
I don't think his first season was wonderful, last season we were stronger and on paper we had the best XI in Serie A. He did many mistakes last season which cost us scudetto. Also Juventus and Napoli had weaker squad last season. He's not a top coach for me.

Who cares about Slavia and Sheriff? Dortmund and Barcelona are clearly more dangerous than Real and Shakhtar, which is my point. Even if you want to use the Sherrif (BS) excuse, Conte was stuck with Mönchengladbach from Pot 4 - by far a harder opponent than Sheriff.

Conte is a horrible UCL manager. That doesn't change the fact Inzaghi reaped the rewards of Conte earning us a spot in Pot 1 last season. Now Inzaghi will go out in the group stage. The only question is whether he finishes third or fourth.

Most of us here has been football fans for 25 plus years, we saw how football evolve from back then until now, we were not scout, coaches, or professional managers but we watched football long enough to realized that something has gone terribly wrong last night
Mr simone was outclassed last night, but the performance of the boys wasn't helping at all, they look disorganized, disjointed, and all over the place, it was horrible, every time milan's player approached the penalty box , it turns into a dangerous situation, something that is quite uncommon in this level of football, it could be a lot worse last night, at 1 point i was afraid that something similar to 6 - 0 score line gonna happen again, we could have conceded more than 3 goals, it was that bad, defending should be compact and organize and it was nowhere near that standard, not to mention the midfield was unable to protect the defense, it was chaotic for a top side club in serie a

Mr simone has a very tough job right now, the season are still long and anything can happen, and it's hard to compare between simone and conte since inzaghi didn't have enough support and resources like conte
But as a fan I really admire conte's tenure and work at inter, despite his antics and history as a juventus player
He seems quiet rigid most of the times (tactically) but he was very organize, in the way he set up inter, defending, attacking, transition, almost like he wanted certain route of pass or inter has to play according to his play book

A lot of things need to be address right now, and suning's situation aint helping, it's still early and inzaghi and the staffs still have plenty of time to work things out, we are in for a rough ride , hope we can pass this difficult moment, never give up, forza non mollare mai guys

And Conte was dealt Shakhtar from Pot 2 which you omitted there...

Inzaghi got it harder in CL than Conte, you cannot really say otherwise. I mean we now have Bayern and Barcelona in the group. A Barcelona that's recovering from their mess and want to prove a point and Bayern who are in an awkward spot, but they're still Bayern.
The toughest Conte had to face was Dortmund before they got Haaland and a Barcelona in crisis (lost 8-2 to Bayern within months from that) that beat us with their bench and reserve players... That Dortmund side had been underwhelming for 3-4 years in a row before we met them, it's not as if they were some top side. We expected to beat them at home and we should have won away, too, but it took 45 minutes for their coach to dismantle Conte's gameplan.

You just cannot compare it, Pot 1 or otherwise. No one in their right mind who has watched all games can say that last season wasn't our best CL performance in the consecutive years we're in the tournament from Spalletti to Inzaghi. And I don't mean by results alone.

The problem we have with any comparison is that Inzaghi has a restricted roster and budget constraints, whereas Conte was given a lot of firepower. Why don't we also compare these guys to Stramaccioni and Mazzarri?

inzaghi got a team build around lukaku and wingbacks with best player in europe- hakimi

and then they sold both of them

you cant just compare conte inter to inzaghi- conte inter got some money and was build for winning something

this inter is build for 4th place and out in CL group stage, our top players are constantly told that they will be sold

good luck building winning mentality in such environment

The quality of Inter's defensive organisation is inversely proportional to the time since Conte left
Time itself is a factor too, think of handa, does his performance have to do with Conte too? Maybe, but is aging also a big factor? Plus was sunning selling everybody back then? If a company announced they are doing layoff, do you think it would affect performances and morales?

Formation won't make much difference. We already build from the back in a way which is not tied to our formation at all. Brozovic is sometimes very low, side CBs are sometimes all the way wide on the flanks.
Agree only when we have possession, but when we are talking about sitting deep and the transition from it, I think it limits our options in countering and how well we cover the area. I would take Mancini's euro team for reference, 4-3-3 when defending opens a lot more counter options, even with no speed demons on the team, and they convert to 3-5-2 inter like kinda attack when sieging

It doesn't matter what Brehme will fabricate about Conte. The fact is that during his time here, the squad had high moral, and they were fighting for each ball.

I will criticize Inzaghi for many things this season and I criticize him for few last season but I'm still far from ready to throw him completely under the bus. Not even close to that. Just play throught it for once and get your shit togerther for christ's sake.

I also believe we didn't do him any favour with building the squad. Ownership is certainly much bigger problem here and I doubt anything will change with some new coach and now we probably even don't have the money for someone like Conte.

Overall,Inzaghi is probably our biggest hope that we can still make something of this squad like we did last season.

Also that squad had Perisic, Eriksen and Hakimi. Thats a big difference in quality. First Conte season was worse than Inzaghi's. Imagine if this team has Perisic, Eriksen and Hakimi right now..

Dortmund were the team with the third highest coefficient from Pot 2 when we drew them. Also they had finished two points behind Bayern in the previous season. They weren't shitters like Shakhtar or Sheriff.

Worse? Conte took a team which barely make top 4 with 69 points, and finish second with 82 points. Inzaghi got 84 with better squad and scudetto's winner mentality. Conte has to build that team from the scratch as long as Inzaghi inherited already well oiled machine. This is huge difference.

Inzaghi lost Hakimi, Eriksen and Lukaku, got Dumfries(unexperienced at that time), Hakan and grandpa Dzeko. No oiled machine anymore. Cmon man give him some slack.

I personally feel that Limone is loosing it, the pressure got to his head.

Things like not considering Asllani a contender for any midfield position, not giving Onana a chance against weeker opposition, sticking to his fucking 3-5-2 when there are situations where we could manage with 2 CB's, stubborn shit like that make him somewhat a limited coach.

Also, i feel like we are just like Lazio when he was coach there, a team with horrible defending capable of losing 7 games in a row then winning 7 in a row.

They were by no means shitters, but they weren't a scary team. And Barcelona wasn't a scary team either, especially when we played them at home where they filled their lineup with several bench warmers and their bench with B team players. We had no excuse to fail that group.

And we did worse a year later in an inferior group...

Agree. His biggest problem is not only that he is just mediocre coach, he is also very stubborn.

Conte first season had Biraghi and Candreva + Moses and Young. Lukaku at the beginning of the season was same as now - fat and slow. Barella just came from Cagliari and he was struggling to impose himself, same as Skriniar on RCB position. Bastoni was rookie.
And I'm only saying that the team lacks fighting spirit, which is quite visible so far.

Sure. They had quality players but under no terms scary. At the time of the draw it was considered tough but it could go either way. Of course when you're 2-0 up at Westfalen half time it can only be seen as a failure. Same way it was a failure for Spalletti when we were two points away from qualification after game 4 but no one had high expectations after the draw. Likewise, no one has any expectations from Inzaghi in this group but if we somehow start well and we fuck it up in the end it will be seen as a failure too.

For me the colossal fuckup was finishing behind Gladbach and Shakhtar. Zero excuses.
