What makes me optimistic is that Inzaghi has inherited a great team from a great manager. It’s very different from inheriting a complete mess of circus like the ones in the previous recent dark era.

It would take a mediocre stubborn new coach to destroy what Conte has built. Inzaghi is far from that from what I’ve seen.

But that could be because he never had a side with the quality Inter have. He also never had a team of winners.

You don't need to be a great motivator to excel. That job could be your captain's for example. As long as you get your tactics right and you have players with the right mentality and are proven winner, I think the motivator part could be overlooked.

I agree with Brehme completely. Mentally he is there.
Also Lazio won a lot of games in the last minutes and they also were the team who turn around the most games. You don't do that if the coach is not mentally tough and the team doens't believe in his strenghts.
Under Spaletti we were the opposite. When we conceeded the first, the coach and players were like depressive pussies.

I write that more than a month ago, regarding the same assumption about the lack of motivation or weak mentality. His Lazio team had many flaws but the fighting and mental strenghts were not one of them. His team had a few "names" in the first team but also a lot of holes. And the bench was atrocious.

I am actually really excited to see how we play 5-10 games from now. You could see many occasions where the sharpness just was not there yet and the players were still getting used to everything. To win so convincingly (could have scored even more than 4) is not easy to do in the first game of the season, no matter who you play against. Just look at Juve and Milan.

Even though his subs went well I hope he realizes soon that subbing the only striker can backfire badly towards the end of the game. We have to get accustomed to his football, as he visibly still prefers possession football and working with the GK as a kind of playmaker.

Iirc Conte struggled as well when teams marked Brozo tightly. Hakan being terrible didn't help either. I hope we see solution for that soon.

Hakan has always been criticised for his consistency. Euro was a distraction for Barella and Bastoni too. Give Inzaghi another 4-5 matches before we judge.

So far his subs are on the point. Players seem to get along with him. Just need to manage Dzeko’s energy carefully and give a healthy rotation to Persicic/Dimarco and Darmian/Dumfries then we are all good.
