I was reading a comment by Di Canio that Inzaghi should have instructed Barella to foul Kostic, and i 100% agree, cynical football wins. But why are we absolving the players from their basic duties? At what point is up to the players to react and deliver accordingly on the pitch?
As long as I've been a supporter of Inter, most managers have relied on one of their star players to come through in some respect, especially in the big games. Inzaghi is no different. He is a poor communicator and his demeanor is soft. He can set up the team correctly but it's up to the players to execute. In my view, changing Inzaghi will not amount to much, if Simone and Klopps recent challenges are anything to go by. We cannot rely solely on the coach to get the players in the right mindset, constantly, game in game out. At some point the players need to take responsibility and show character.
Conte said he can't go to war with Sensi and Barella because they haven't won anything. Well Barella has won 3 trophies now. He should have an improved mentality, enough to carry us and urge us on in difficult moments when the coach is out of his depth.
