Sorry but we are not beating Benfica

In fact it's Benfica who have a somewhat clear path to the final

Perhaps the Guttmann curse ends this year?
It will be so embarrassing if Milan beat Napoli and after than Benfica.

Lol at Inter losing to Benfica..

They've had such an easy schedule this season. The toughest games they've had have been against injury riddled PSG and Juve teams. Its easy to look good against poor competition. They barely beat Porto..

Next to nothing? I guess your standards are pretty fucking high here. There are multiple players in Serie A who have been Inter youth players. Getting to Serie A level is IMO pretty fucking good in the end given how many players there are eventually not making it to highest level of that particular country.

And the problem is not so much that we aren't playing our youngsters, but that we're paying a lot of money to bring scrubs that are barely any better than them. It's pretty simple our former and current youngsters may not be good enough to be sure starters but they certainly are good enough to be backup players.

Also we really need to stop going for "Serie A proven players", it never really pays off, like the chances you get a Serie A proven player for a reasonable price is slim to none, unless it's a free agent. Napoli built one of the best teams in Europe with somewhat cheap players mostly from other leagues Min-jae Kim (€16M), Anguissa (€16M), Zielinski (€16M) and Kvaratskhelia (€12M), basically only Osimhen (€75M) was super expensive for them.

But Inter wants to keep on buying only known players, if you want to do that you have to spend hundreds of millions of Euros every season. We need to start looking for relatively unknown young talented players and fill the gaps with our primavera and some free agents.

We are after well known players, because our scouts suck alike Napoli's ones.

What really bothers me about Inzaghi are the drops in the team's performances from one game to the next. In one match, they play Milan off the park and three days later they go missing in action against Sampdoria. How do we account for that? Is it down to tiredness and the lack of viable options off the bench to rotate? Is it a sign that psychologically, the team are not well prepared because they almost always struggle against smaller teams. Either way, I feel it is on Inzaghi to have the players mentally ready for their next challenge.

I am pretty sure that if we had Conte last season with a seven point lead halfway through the season, we would have won last season's Scudetto. In relation to this season, we might not have been able to keep pace with Napoli but we would definitely have been in better shape than we are at this point with Inzaghi. One thing that I appreciated about the Hunchback of Turin is that when we suffered a poor result, we almost always hit back in the next game.

It's simple, our squad is not good enough and Inzaghi is not a great motivator, that coupled with Napoli running away for the league is a recipe for disaster. If we had an actual strong squad or if the 1st place wasn't so far away maybe the players could automotivate themselves.

Another thing is that we really lack dribblers, almost every top team have at least a couple of them, we have none, basically no pace either that's why we struggle so much when things don't go our way.

What matters is getting through not how easily you do it. You don't get anything extra for winning 7-0.

I was replying to nyall who was saying benfica barely beat Porto as a slight. I’m only saying it because I think Inter/benfica will be much tougher that many around here think. If they come at us and win the first leg, then shut up shop at the San Siro, we’re in big trouble bc we can’t find ways to beat teams that park the bus.

I don't think that's the way the rule works. I believe if we finish 5th and win the UCL, five Italian teams get in. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Chelsea 2012. They won CL but finished 6th in the league. Tottenham was 4th and had to play in Europa league the following year

Yeah. They have changed it. Germany had 5 teams in CL this season because Eintracht won Europa League.

It can still happen. 5 is allowed but 6 isn't. Let's say the final standings this season is as follows:
  1. Napoli
  2. Milan
  3. Lazio
  4. Juventus
  5. Inter
  6. Roma
In this scenario, if we win the CL and Roma win the EL the fourth place becomes a Europa League spot.

With the format change in 2024-25, UEFA will allow up to 6 teams from a member association.

We have gotten so lucky in the knockout rounds with these draws, it's fucking absurd. Benfica and Milan are the two teams which we can't make any fucking excuses against.
