Gamble.

Surprised the word isnt written even once so far in the thread. I think its what describes Inzaghi the best. We’ll never know what he will do, he came from a Lazio team who are almost the same for 5 years, to a big, demanding club and players who just won the Scudetto, will be able to contain the pressure?

With Conte left and Allegri went to juve, I don't think that we had any top options. You call it gamble, but that could be said for everyone else. For me Simone was the safest choice and I believe he will do fine.

Don't expect much, just want him to repay that 2002 "scudetto" :troll:

I can’t wrap my head around people who are genuinely excited about this guy joining Inter. Do you guys really support Inter? Did you watch any of our recent games with lazio? Pretty much Every time Conte’s Inter played Lazio, we dominated them like little bitches. And even when we didn’t, they still failed to beat us because Inzaghi is the biggest choker out there

I put he will win us the league again. We are champions. Still have all our players and even if we have to sell 1-2 starters. It's still a hell lot better team than he had at Lazio last 2 years. His 2019-2020 Lazio was awesome. Would have been champions if Covid hadn't hit. Just didnt have the squad depth to play every 3 days

You're rating the guy's success based on a few encounters against us with his dysfunctional team? Could Conte do better with that Lazio side?

Welcome Simone! I wish you every success with my Inter! Make us proud!

When you think about it, this appointment is a massive step up for Simone Inzaghi. It is one thing to coach Lasio in Rome, but another altogether to coach Inter. As many posters on here have already said, every coach has to start somewhere. Most coaches do not simply walk into coaching a big club.

I think it takes alot of courage and character to coach Inter at the best of times. The expectations are often high and the pressure, dysfunction and turbulence surrounding the club can be an absolute distraction. I think the stakes are even higher because he has joined a season after we won the Scudetto. So compliments to him for taking a huge step and accepting the challenge.

I am honestly not sure what to expect from Inzaghi. There are so many variables that make forecasting how he will go very difficult to predict. Having said that, I think it is positive that our owners sought continuity in terms of appointing a coach that plays the same formation as the Gobbo that was here for the last two seasons.

From what I know about Inzaghi, he has managed Lazio on a shoe string budget for the last five years and his teams have been competitive. It is also my understanding that he is not a loose cannon like Conte. Like many posters on here have said over the course of the last week, it always felt with Conte, that we were on the precipice, right on the edge looking over, ready to tip, with there being a significant risk that it could blow up at any time and he would walk.

With Inzaghi, I feel we are in safer hands when it comes to temperament. However, what I do not know is whether Inzaghi's temperament translates into less intensity when it comes to the way he interacts with and conveys his message to his players and the game they play on the pitch.

I am hoping for the best: I am hoping that we will still be able to perform at a high level and hope that with Inzaghi as coach, he might bring to this team, new characteristics to our game that we did not have under Conte.

FORZA INTER!

Welcome Simone! Good luck as you’ll probably need it at this club.

Assuming our squad isn’t gutted beyond recognition, top 4 should be relatively achievable. Anything more than that would be a bonus in his first year.

We were those who were mostly choking against them, and we have two times better squad then them. Fkn Marusic,Radu and co...We dominated nothing, last year they fucked us at Olimpico,so Cunte's Inter in those games were more cunts than Inzaghi's Lazio.

You make it sound like there is an abundance of choice, that Inter can hire any coach the club likes and and that we have a war chest of available money to buy new players to accommodate a new formation and player targets.

Maybe you are in denial but your blindness and complaining reminds me of our former coach who refused to consider and accept the club's financial constraints and walked at the first chance he got.

There is little use in complaining when the club is broke and we are restricted by the formation played by Antonio the Gobbo.

You are neglecting all the changes that will happen in the league. Don't come crying in this thread when we don't go on a winning run in the second half of the season. :) He has a free pass from me the first season here, he just needs to reach CL football again. Hopefully we make it at least to pot 2.

We never know how Conte would coach Lazio, but we all know that Inzaghi has made 0 progress after that long time at Lazio. And that’s worrying.

Inb4 someone say CL knockout, yeah that’s a plus, but dropping from 3rd to 6th in the league is a massive downfall. Forget Inter or Juve, he is worse than his own previous season.

How can you expect him to make progress with minimal investment from the club? The fact that he kept Lazio competitive whilst the club was run cheaply is quite an achievement.

Also from missing on CL football in the last match of the season in 2017/18 to finishing 8th in the following season. And for me the most worrying thing was the big drop in the same season in 2019/20. There are reasons to have doubts about this guy.

Anyway, he's here now so let's try to be positive and hope for the best.

Same for all other coaches in the league, bar Juve, Milan and Inter. All have limited resources so all can stay still or regress? So Mihajlovic Fonseca Gattuso...can be Inter coach too because not their fault that their teams also ran cheaply.

I fail to see what "competitive" you mean? Finishing once in 5 years in top4 is far from good enough with Lazio squad. It basically means in all but 1 season, Inzaghi failed to finish ahead any of his competitors.

I can't wait to see how we look at the end of August. It feels so far.

I was curious about Sarri at Inter, but that would require to much squad changes I assume. This shows at least a level of consistency which can only assure players in the middle of everything going against that.

I disagree here. With the exception of Luis Alberto, SMS, Immobile, Acerbi, and Lazzari, that squad is dogshit.

Not the biggest fan of Inzaghi but looking at the situation we are in now it was probably the ''best'' choice for us. I will wait with my expectations for the season to start because we don't know what the team will look like by then. If we finish 4th, stay in the CL after the winter and we win a trophy he did alright.

Imagine reaching CL and then the club which doesn't spend any money, goes and buys fucking Muriqi for 15m. I am not a big fan, but you have to give credit to Inzaghi. He has done wonders for the squad he had. All of Milan, Napoli, Roma, Atalanta, have done much more than Lazio in the market over the last few years. And in spite of that, Inzaghi's Lazio have have stayed with them or done better. Let's hope he can step up with the players he has at his disposal are far better.
