I wouldn't dramatise based on one single draw. But there are two concerns.

- The loss of Pintus. We are lazy creatures by default. Any players would be happy with a less intensive training regime. But without Pintus' training, we'll gradually loss gas after winter, as usual.

- Predictability. Not sure why Inzagahi still asks Handa to do short passes from the back. Since Conte's era we've lost count on how many times we let the opponents score just because we fucked up our passes or our opponents started pressing us from minute 1. Inzaghi needs to ask Handa to think and give him to liberty to make alternative decisions.

What do you mean Conte's era, the short passes from back started with Spalletti.

Defense was dismal again and I won't take injury or fatigue as an excuse.

Look how tight Milan were against Lazio. Every single time Lazio had the ball in Milan's defensive third, it was as if they ran into an invisible wall. They just reached a point which they could not pass and not once did they look like they could create a single meaningful chance.

Compare that to us this season. Even in the Genoa game, the number half, or "quarter-chances" we gave up were worrying. It's not just about the shots we faced - because those Genoa and Verona spastics kept scuffing shots, or missing their window to take a shot. It's about an opponent having the ball in a dangerous position, and having the time and freedom to do something with it. These scenarios have been WAY too fucking common under Inzaghi so far.

I won't get ahead of myself based on a one-game comparison but it's the principles which matter and are clearly visible.

As I wrote in the match thread, the defensive phase utterly reeks of complacency. Players are just casually jogging over to close down opponents instead of sticking closely to them or busting to cover space. Part of this is due to the tactical match-up but part of it feels like mentality to me. I don't know if they've just become slack without Conte screaming in their ears and keeping them on edge.

All I know is that what I'm seeing is:

1) Far fewer players in our defensive phase on the transition (yes, I know this is partly because we push higher up the pitch)
2) Far less intensity in our defensive movement and closing players down
3) Far more space for opponents to easily exploit

Inzaghi (and his staff) have never been known for being defensively solid and I've always heard excuses like "look at the players he has available" etc. I certainly expect him to do a good job and improve (somewhat), but this is the true test. All I'm seeing is further evidence that the coaching staff simply lacks the defensive proficiency of previous teams.

The Pintus thing is what I don’t understand. 1) Why did we let him leave unless he himself wanted to go (which very well may have been that case). However, more importantly why is it so difficult to replicate what he did last year? We aren’t talking about tactics we’re talking about diet and exercise. We had two full seasons with the him as our athletic trainer. Is there not a record of what’s done for athletic training on a daily basis? Of the diet plan? Especially when this guy is considered to be the best in the world in his field. Why wouldn’t we stick to the blueprint he gave us? I get that these days diets and trainings are specialized for individual players but no trainer is recreating the wheel.

The problem is not the defense, the problem is the midfield. If Brozović and Barella aren't on their day, we struggled a lot and we don't anyone on the bench that we can bring in, because our midfield bench is Serie B level.

Agree, midfield is our problem. We lack muscle in midfield like prime Vidal. Barella and Brozo are not enough.

This is exactly how Conte did it last season. Played some reckless attacking, we kept conceding and didn't get the results. We changed to tight defending and the rest is history.

Let's see what Inzaghi will do but I think he needs to do something as today we leaked fucking everywhere. Way too much space for Samp and they just poured in those crosses all the time.
Yes, but Conte relatively fast realized that his idea is not working and switched to deep defending with counter attacks. I don't think that Indzaghi will do the same. First of all, we sold two of our best suited players for counter attacking football and then he will try to impose his style despite some defensive fuck ups. Since he is not on pressure to win the scudetto, he has enough allowance to get the things in his way.

We should talk about DEFENDING. Not defence. Or midfield Defending is present everywhere on the pitch. Defending for the defence line is easier if midfield knows what to do. Or even forwards.

To me it feels Calhanoglu hasn't adjusted yet to our defending. It felt he was double-pressing many times against Samp leaving huge spaces behind him. Complete mispasses all over the pitch don't help either. They will accumulate eventually (as lost of ball possession is more energy-consuming than having possession).

Try:
A) Milan forums for that kind of math to make sense.
B) Juventus forums for that kind of point accumulation to be an actual option.
Or FIF
7 from 9
And said "ok, we back to banter era"

i dont know about Milan Forum but i'm pretty sure Rube Forum would affirm that win in 3 matches is 12 points.

"Calhanoglu hasn't adjusted to our defending" seems to imply he has any talent or intent at defending. Calhanoglu at Milan was hardly known for his defending, and his work rate is average when things are down. That is one of the reasons why he disappears for long durations from a game. Basically we are down to 10 men off the ball.

If Conte was our coach, Calhanoglu might not have even made our bench (I exaggerate, but you know what I mean). Clearly Inzaghi has some hopes of awakening Hakan's inner Luis Alberto. I remain skeptical. I don't like players like Calhanoglu. I even prefer lessor talents like Darmian or even Candreva (yes, I went there!) who always give their 100% on the pitch, than talented players like Calhanoglu who sometimes only give their 50%.

After three games i was thinking about our defense liability.

With Conte last year, especially after winter, we play very defensive with good counter attack from Lukaku and Hakimi.

I miss Eriksen, Lukaku, Hakimi, and Barella running counter attack. They are so efficient last year. Very deadly counter attack, maybe top 5 in europe.

Sampdoria second goal is humiliation for us. There is no way top team condeded a goal like that.
lol well counter attack does not work in europe counter attack is worthless if other team is not chasing score and in champions league we chased a result mostly
