We rightly dominated yesterday, we're just much better than Juve and a lot of the credit goes to Simone "Spiaze" Inzaghi, great job.

However, there are two things I didn't like yesterday. The choice of the starting strikers and the subsequent handling of the forwards was not good, as I mentioned in the thread. Dzeko - Lautaro hasn't really worked all season, and one or the other + Correa/Sanchez seems to be the obvious way to move forward.

He then followed it up by taking both of our number 9s off and playing with two second strikers when we needed a goal, which seemed silly. I can see the idea, having Sanchez playing it through for Correa against tired legs, but Juventus had their line pushed so far back they might as well have been still in Turin, so there was no space to try that tactic.

The second thing is his emotional reaction to being denied the penalty on Barella. He represented every single one of us, but after 30 seconds or so of justified anger he's got to get his shit back under control and help our players manage their emotions. He was visibly unsettled for a good while which definitely contributed to us switching off for a good 10-15 minutes and conceding.

Anyway, bravo. We can really start to open a cycle, much like when Mancini first arrived. Let's keep it going.

In his first season he already outdone what Cunte did in his first season here. Hope he continues like this and bring us scudetto also. Way to go Simone, way to go!
How come?

Last night we won a trophy that Conte helped set up. We haven’t won anything this season yet as this cup should be played in August. The CL group qualification is obvious yes but if we get knocked out v Liverpool and don’t win anything for the rest of the season I’d say he’d be on par at best. It might be a joke of a competition but getting to the EL final isn’t easy and Conte instilled a winning mentality into the team so I’d disagree with what you’ve said tbh.

Inzaghi is doing great, but we can’t start shutting over all the hard work Conte did in last 2 years.

Inzaghi has been very smart - taking food foundations in Inter and tweaking it to improve it. The core of this team and many aspects of it are still from Contes world. It's not like when Mourinho came and got rid of 19 of Mancini's squad to build a winning team..

Whoever made that choice of replacing Conte with Inzaghi knew exactly what he was doing.

Kind reminder that first choice was Allegri.
Maybe we should be thankful to Conte for wasting so much time to fuck off.

Not sure if its click-bait but I just received an alert from OneFootball that Manchester United have opened talks with Simone Inzaghi. Apparently, Atletico Madrid are also interested.

Perhaps we should not wait until the end of the season to give him an extension.

The way I see it, Inter presently have more to offer as a club and team than Manchester United. I guess the question for Inzaghi is whether the history of Manchester United and their profile as a club appeals to him.

United would be a hospital pass of a job to take atm. Athletico less so. His career is on a cliffs edge - make the right decisions and he will be in the top tier of Italian managers for the next decade or two. Make the wrong ones and he will be a one hit wonder.

The foundation of this team was built by Conte, and he had stability when he took over. You won't get that at United.

After so many years I actually enjoy and cant wait to see the team perform. After so many painful years this is just amazing. Conte did a good enough job but our play was not great. Inzaghi took that to the next level and I just hope it continues and he can build on what we have going. If our attack becomes more clinical sky is the limit.

We got him till 2023, and Man Utd aren't going to wait till then. From a contract POV, its all in our hands and there is no reason to hurry up an extension. If a club wants Inzaghi this summer, they will have to pay us - which will be the case whether or not we extend his contract.

In cases of a coach, unlike players, contracts means less. Because no top club wants to enforce the contract to retain a coach who wants to leave. A top club needs a coach who is fully motivated and believes in a project. Longer contracts or extensions are usually what a coach wants (for bigger golden handshakes in case of failure) and not really as advantageous for the club (as it is in case of players).

So I will wait till the summer to decide whether or not to extend Inzaghi's contract. There is literally no hurry.

I always said he got the absolute most from his Lazio squad. I'm not surprised that he's confirming himself as a good coach, but I am surprised at how quickly he's adapted to the role, especially taking over for a strong personality like Conte.

Doesn't make sense they want to replace Rangnick now when he's supposed to choose their next coach in the summer. Unless Rangnick thinks Inzaghi is the man, which I don't believe as of right now. He'll choose another German, imo.

Poor guy, he has good ideas how his football should work, but our players look burnout and it's the end of january. We still have 4 months of football in front of us and I'm afraid that some kind of fall will happen for sure - so why not try to bring at least one striker for a half-a-season loan? Some fresh blood

Well, anyways, good job so far, but do try to figure out what to do with Lautaro.

For as long as I can remember since playing against Lazio, most of our goals have been initiated from crosses except sensi's goal against empoli. It could be mean doing crosses has been an effective strategy for us so far. But in another perspective we are uncapable of doing link-up play with short passes through the center or passing vertically to the strikers to create different types of goal scoring opportunity.

I think we had those opportunities; we just didn't score them. Take Vidal's chance today for example, that was not a cross; also if Barella wasn't foul he is pretty much getting himself into the box with a possible shooting or assisting opportunity.
I mean in some sense it is easier to score from a horizontal pass/cross, cause you are shifting the other team, where the defense was set up for a certain angle, and then here comes the momentum and possibility of out of positions due to bad coordination. Not that much of a surprise, but I don't see us lack of attacking methods; we are just not converting them into goals.
