No, we wouldn't. But i wanted to give it a try. I wanted to see us giving it all even if it wasn't enough in the end. I would be proud of the team and the coach. Instead we gave up after red card, accepted the elimination and Inzaghi was resting players.
No he didnt rest the players, did you ever played fkn football?Hakan was dead tired,Brozo injured,we were with 10 fkn men,it was against fkn Liverpool, last 16 CL,not Genoa or Sampdoria. No one gave up,they couldnt do shit cause they were dead tired, injured and with crappy depth. This was heroic performance.

You need to win, do you field a striker or 2 dummies midfielders? If Conte did the same thing, you'd call him a coward
Dzeko was injured Jesus Christ,he injured himself when he was warming. Thats why he was not brought in,he could bring Caicedo LOL

Nah hes just waved the white flag. he could risked it all nothing to lose we had gosens and dzeko on but he chose to intoduce vecino instead which means he was satisfied with this result meaning with this low club mentality we never had the chance to qualify from the first place
So Gosens can play CM now?O please cmon stop it right now.

It was right for Simone to give up and just defend our 1-0. I really don’t want us to play the full 120 mins with 10 men. It’s just begging for more injuries.

But it was wrong for him to put Vecino in. He could have put Gosens or Dzeko in and still ask them to stay back.

So it’s a matter of optics, not tactics.

Oh yea? Didn't know that.

Then bring gosens on the left and push perisic upfront and play two top. Correa sitting in front while jogging like he was in the gym didn't do us any good, as drago said, he should have taken more risks.

Anyway, still a win for us (match wise) and id be lying if i ever thought wed beat liverpool but it's just devastating seeing us give up just like that.

We beat Liverpool at Anfield, even if it's a useless win, it helps us build a platform. People didn't rate Inter much in Europe, now we're the only ones to have done this. Liverpool can go on and win the trophy here.

As useless information as this may be for some after a failure to advance, we're becoming a more attractive destination after this one. Players and agents will see that there's something good going on here. All we need now is to win the Scudetto. Players will soon be asking to play for Inter. Money is important of course and we all know in how much trouble we are, but players will realize that they can have it good here. Win in Italy and compete in Europe.

If only we had Hakimi and Barella was available. We'd be waiting for potential opponents.

I'll admit that I also wanted Dzeko in instead of Vecino (I preferred Gosens overall with Ivan in the middle) but the problem is that Dzeko would have had 1-2 forward moves and the rest of it would have been a glorified center back spot, probably messing around our defense in the process as he'd try to barge in.

It was very improbable to win by 2 after Brozovic was out, they had the chances to cut us open and Skriniar, Bastoni & Vidal held the fort. Don't think they could have done the same if we tried to squeeze more attacks.

I'll take the win over a "what if" that could have seen a 2-1 loss instead.
Exactly my words.

Inzaghi went for the approach let's keep the energy up with the press and maybe we get some odd bounce, takeway in midfield, some quick counter. It wasn't like we would have controlled the ball anyway in the end (Calha was a toast) so having Vecino-Gagliardini there was more about the energy. Of course they can't put up some combination plays but with some lucky bounces and straightforward game, some day it can work out.

Didn't work out today but it's not a big deal. Dzeko wouldn't have offered any press. Maybe he could have provided the needed combination play with Correa but then again, it would have been basically 9v11 when Liverpool had the ball and specially in the midfield we would have been killed completely.

Win at Anfield is already a great result. We aren't super far tbh. We challenged Liverpool without Barella available at all. While they had big chances and couldn't score, we weren't terribly far either.

Jesus, I really didn’t expect to see this guy getting mauled tonight.

Fuck else is he supposed to do? Yeah fine, the subs were wrong, but another 30 minutes at this pace with ten men would have killed us for this weekend. If we went on to concede 2/3, that would have done us in completely.

We won at Anfield. Now we need to win at the weekend.

Correa is shit I agree that. He doesnt care, fuck that shit. They did their best. We need proper players on the bench. That is our main problem. Imagine when we lost Lukakwho who could believe that we will be close to harm fkn Liverpool in Anfield? It happened,it was bad luck,it was typical Inter, second yellow card,Brozo injury. They hit two posts, but after our goal and that we had momentum,we had it,Liverpool was in deep shit, and than that red card instantly killed us.

Oh yea? We needed a win and he fielded in fucking Vecino and gags. I still like him but he can go fuck himself with his subs today
Who was he supposed to sub in? Fucking Mbappe? Dzeko is slow as fuck and wouldn't have made much of a difference with a man down, we needed fresh legs to run and cover ground. Even if we had gotten a fluke goal, extra half would have killed us.

Inzaghi did the best he could with the squad he has and we actually played on par with Liverpool over the 2 legs.

Im sure if we didnt got the red, inzaghi was doing more offensive subs, liverpool didnt looked too good and the momentum was in our side, im almost sure that we could score more if not that fucking red, but this is our fucking luck, one moment i jump like crazy and after that moment i wanted to punch somting..
At least we won at anfield, thing that so much better teams than us couldnt do for more than a year..

One more thing kids. We need to give credits to Simone for (finally) finding a solution to the Brozo being pressed problem.

During the first half, he made a point to have TWO regista (alongside Calha). And it's not just committing an extra player at the back. He clearly asked Brozo to just run laterally (left and right), while Calha strictly move up and down on EITHER Brozo's left OR Brozo's right.

Liverpool has committed Jota, Salah and Fabinho to press on Brozo. But Brozo kept dragging them out of position. And Calha managed to bring the ball forward every now and then.

This is extremely encouraging. Simone could adapt and he refuses to sit still. Bravo.

But look at this: We are the only team to beat Liverpool at Anfield this season playing with 10 men and finishing the game with Gagliardini, Vecino, D'Ambrosio and Darmian, in a CL knockout game to top it all.
If I asked anyone if that was possible back in 2019 you'd be laughing. Instead, we're extending the contract of the guy who made it happen

Quoting myself here but cannot connect the post.

Just consider that we never even expected a top 4 finish with these guys in the first place :D

It's true.

I can understand being disappointed with the subs, but we already couldn't get the ball, removing a midfielder wasn't going to help.

The only sub I'm upset at was hakan for vecino. Literally gives us nothing. If you want to keep a midfielder on better moving perisic to the centre and out gosens on.

Inzaghi just beat one of the best teams in the world on their home pitch. Can't ask for much more. If we didn't disintegrate in the first leg. If barella hadn't have got sent off.
Ah well.
Props to the team. Now please win the league

Why are people so pissed about the subs? Do people not realize our depth is atrocious? Our midfield was completely dead he needed to make a change and he brought on what he had. Our lack of depth is the biggest reason we aren't clear at the top of the league rn. Are we getting mad because he can't wave a magic wand and turn Gagliardini into Iniesta?

LOL this is surprising, I was expecting people praising and singing for him here.
Anyway, I think he made the right play after Sanchez was sent off and Broz was needed to sub off.
Even I also preferred Gosens overall with Ivan in the middle (I think Simone did too partially, but Broz, you know); but reenergizing the midfield is kinda crucial, cause the way to go to overtime is NOT conceding and scoring 1 more goal with 1 man down; also the plan has be sustainable for overtime. The midfield with running legs can help on the pressing, running forward and defending, and with Correa up front, we are not expecting the midfield to create for him, just run and support.
It played out ok TBH, man it is nice to have him as the coach, just keep improving!!

I also don't quite get the criticisms here right now. A 1-0 win at Anfield is huge, Liverpool have been looking very good this season and we without a doubt looked like the better team this game and the last (bar the last 15 minutes of the 1st leg). Winning here after the Salernitana game is absolutely HUGE for setting a platform for the rest of the season.

You all seriously would have preferred he put on Dzeko while a man down hoping that we get a goal to go into extra-time? Where he would have most definitely lost? Where our very thin squad would have been tired going into the Torino game? No. This 1-0 win is bigger than that.
