It was never feasible I know as it would have required a squad overhaul but getting Inzaghi over De Zerbi is going to be one of those things that will haunt us for some time

De Zerbi has never coached a top team. There's a different mindset on lower clubs compared to the top ones. Bigger expectations, far more pressure and many other factors. Don't wanna discredit De Zerbi's great work in his previous clubs as well, but let's give him some more time until he switches to a heavyweight club and see how he does.

I have zero regrets over passing on De Zerbi for Inzaghi. De Zerbi is another coach with bad defensive setup who's also totally unproven at top level. I would stay away. Also we didn't exactly pass on him. He rushed to agree with Shakhtar even before Conte leaving.

My regret for 2021 summer is passing on Sarri. You simply go for the best coach available even if it means a squad overhaul. But as usual our management adopted a conservative approach and played it safe.

First of all, last season was one of adjustment from Conte ball to Inzaghi ball. This season squad have fully adjusted to Inzaghi tactics. And even last season there was a lot of criticism, even from Inter players, that we conceded too many goals. It's just a much bigger issue this season, also due to the loss of Perisic.

And yes. He has no clue. His defensive record speaks for itself.

2016/17 Lazio: 51 goals conceded
2017/18 Lazio: 49 goals conceded
2018/19 Lazio: 46 goals conceded
2019/20 Lazio: 42 goals conceded
2020/21 Lazio: 55 goals conceded
2022/23 Inter: 24 goals conceded in 17 matches

Unless something drastically changes it will be another 40+ goals conceded season for an Inzaghi team. 2021/22 looks like an outlier in Inzaghi's career.

I don't know why you keep bringing up Conte credentials. Conte isn't at Inter anymore. Club can't afford someone with Conte credentials. Inzaghi didn't have Conte credentials when he was hired in the first place.

Bar isn't Conte anymore. It's Inzaghi. For starters we just need someone who can fix the defense. The fact that Inter have a worse defensive record than Lecce and Empoli is simply unacceptable. And it isn't solely a matter of players.

Inzaghi's type of football requires a very strong attack and quality squad depth. We don't have money for either. And that's why for me he isn't the right guy to move forward past this season.
I'm talking about Conte credentials in relation to Juric discussion. Conte had the credentials, the credibility in front of the team to do what he wanted the team to do, ie. order them to play like dogs. Suffering, defending, endless running.

That's Juric's modus operandi as well but he doesn't have the credentials yet. So I'm having huge doubt he could do the same at Inter what he's doing now at Torino. Coach needs certain credibility, you can't bring random guys in front of a squad like Inter. Juric is no random guy at Serie A anymore, but he doesn't have the name yet. Simply because he hasn't really achieved anything. Conte had all the name he needed. "Do this and we will win", he has backing for that with his titles/trophies won. Juric has none of that.

Bringing in Juric doesn't automatically means we've fixed the defence. Players are humans, they have their egos and so on. You are a star at Serie A so you might not take orders to run your lungs out every match just like that from any person who's just happened to signed to be your boss (in ideal world that how it goes but as we all know, the world is not ideal).

That was my point regarding Conte comparisons.

Management adopted the cheapest approach, we need to remember that aspect.

I think De Zerbi was not good fit becouse the could had to change squad based on 433 formation and that costed a lot, plus, his time here would be totally different under pressure and he has almost no exprience to could handle that.

Sarri's Lazio record is Game72, W33 D20 L19 win rate: 45.8%
Simone Inzaghi's Lazio record is G251, W134, D45, L 72 win rate 53.39%

I am only comparing Lazio cause the budget and the players' ability and environment they worked with is the closest to compare, even Inzaghi would have the advantage of being familiar with the place, but also bare in mind, that he has no prior coaching experience before Lazio. I would say the somewhat balance it out.

I really appreciate Inzaghi as the coach, and I see him addressing the problems and improving the gameplay with the given resources and adapting to the situation (e.g. Broz injured.)

He even gave Carboni some play time last game.

He gave like 5 min to him, and this is actually one of the problems with Inzaghi. He has fixed time and place for those young players in his head, regardless of what happens on the pitch. Doesn't matter if Correa plays as shit 10.matches in the row. At the end, he will be always ahead of Carboni, who will get his 5.min here and there. Same with Asllani. For Inzaghi he is registra and he will get his 15-20 min some of the games. Doesn't matter that 5G is pure crap and adds nothing, he still will play if Barella or somebody else is unavailable, because Asllani is spare registra in Inzaghi 's mind.

So far so good in the Supercoppa. Hopefully the trust in Inzaghi returns if we win in the end.

Inzaghi is a big game manager. Fight me.
He's more like a cup manager. If we get past Porto in the CL there are some beatable teams we can take on in the QF and proceed to the semi final. And we have a good shot in Coppa Italia as well.

I have mixed feelings for Limone. He does some good things, but at the same time he tends to bring some bullshit and question your faith on him.

Dunno man. Our team is moody as hell, and it's up to him to change that because we cannot afford to just lose matches like it's nothing. We aren't Lazio.

Yes there's bigger issues than him, but he has to work with these tools he already has, and I think that he's failing on it.

Credit for the Supercoppa, we have been fantastic tonight, but there's a lot of work to be done in team's character in league matches. First; know the importance of points in every single game.

I think he told the players not to dwell on the ball in tight spaces and play the 1-2 touches to counter Milan’s pressing.

It was pass and go the entire first half. Milan players didn’t know how to deal with the one touch passing.

I think tactically he’s there. I honestly can’t remember him getting a game plan particularly wrong (at least in recent memory). His in-game management is a work in progress but still young enough to learn. The bigger question mark is if he has the personality to really establish himself in the upper tier of managers. He needs to get the team performing at 100% all the time.

Yeah his in-game management and the mental side of preparing the team week in, week out are the things to focus on. But indeed he's young, only 46.

Champions League will prove that.
No one cares much about anything else these days.

People rate Tuchel for example because he won a fluke CL and had some good runs in Europe but he was really bad at handling PSG's stars despite winning 1+1 gifted, clashes with lots of top players and isn't a great league competitor and he helped lose the league to Lille in his 3rd season, then he couldn't compete in the PL where average managers have done much better with less.

And if you ask people here, they'd love Tuchel. At least the idea of Tuchel they have. If he actually came here the same people would hate him
