I'm not going to say which one, but I'm going to make a bold prediction that really shouldn't be bold at all but probably is and say that Real Madrid is going to win a trophy this year*.
Whether it's La Liga, La Copa, or the Champions League, I have no clue. But I think they're going to win some kind of silverware this year. To me, this season has a very '17-'18 Barca feel to it for Madrid coming in, losing their talisman and people being underwhelmed. When I look at their squad, on paper mind you, I still see a world class CB pairing, a world class FB pairing, an excellent midfield with depth, and capable players in the attacking phase although Bale obviously has pretty much zero durability unfortunately. This might sound like sacrelige but I never really rated Zidane's tactical acumen as being all that much, although obviously he got results especially in the '16-'17 season. I'm bullish on what Lopetegui can do there. I'm not saying they're going to do what Barca did last year and end up winning a domestic double without breaking a sweat; I'm obviously not going to write some hyperbolic bullshit that could imply them being better without Ronaldo because that's an absurd notion. What the players still there will have the chance to do however is step into larger roles now that Ronaldo is gone; who steps into those roles and how they perform will ultimately dictate how they finish in the three competitions they're playing in.
*And not the Super Cup or the Club World Cup. Jeezus, espcially not the latter. Who could possibly care about that tinpot trophy...
