De Ligt's decision was about nothing other than €€€. Somewhere I'm glad he's getting punished for that. Better to learn early on.

Yeah. Just a few millions less per year. And if that's enough reason for you to choose juBe over farca then you need to get your priorities straight, especially at this age, but we can also not deny the roach Mino Raiola's influence in this tbh.

Not to mention how Frenkie is his best friend, and he literally had the option to join him at farca and play with him for X amount of years to come. But he chose the 10% more money over his friend.
On the other hand, now the one plays with Messi and the other with Ronaldo, maybe they can teach each other a bit of both.

It is poetic how De Ligt's greedy hands are now constantly punished on the pitch with handballs though.

The problem wasn't De Ligt salary. The reason De Ligt didn't join Barcelona was they couldn't agree with Raiola over his agent fees.

In the end it was wages & Raiola fees

And to imagine they actually rested their team against us to focus on this match. Sigh.

Ridiculous how much any of the players on the field would better our team. We could stick Carvajal behind the strikers and he would be our best midfielder ffs.

Valverde would be a better SS than Politano.

I'm wondering what’s gonna happen to Barca once Messi retires. This guy literally is the team. Sure, they still have great players but it looks to me like he’s the only one who can reliably carry the team, apart from a Suarez wonder goal here and there, but he has become quite inconsistent (which makes our home loss even more painful, considering we blew it against a B side).
They don’t have a good track record with coaches since Guardiola left and Valverde as well as his predecessors are heavily relying on individual quality rather than having a plan in place.
I'm not an economics guy but they’ve had some expensive flops lately like Coutinho, Malcolm (who is gone already, I know) and to some extent Dembele, who I personally really like but he seems to have behavioral issues and is quite injury prone.
Neither am I impressed with their back four. Pique is getting old, Alba is very good going forward but trash in defense (and also getting old). Lenglet is meh and Semedo is trash imo.
Meaning they will have to strengthen a couple of positions in the next 2-3 summers as well as getting a good coach if they want to maintain their dominance in the league and regain it in Europe. Not sure if their management seems a little all over the place with those sporting decisions.

That’s what it looks like to me from a casual outside perspective, maybe our member FCBarca can give some insight regarding some of those points.

I don't think it was just about that. Like it or not, Serie A is still the place for young defenders to learn their craft. And Juve is for defenders a top school for development like Barca is for attacking players. I think Raiola mentioned sometime back that de Ligt took this call, to come to Juve and learn from their defensive organisation as well as stalwarts like Chiellini. IMO for a young player it was a sensible way to look at things. I remember Pogba did the same, he came to Juve not (just) for the money but to play with the likes of Pirlo and learn.

Raiola earns so much money and gets top players because he is smart. Anyone can auction his players to the highest bidder. The De Ligt move may not be working out yet, and may never work out, but there is no guarantee that Barca would have been a better move. Much as I hate the rube scum, IMO this was a smart move by De Ligt, and there is still time.

This was mentioned regarding Haaland and Dortmund and the same applies here. I have no doubt De Ligt eventually ends up in Barcelona and, when the time comes, that's more commission money for Raiola than if he had just done De Ligt to Barcelona directly. Every party gets some benefit from it in the end.

Barcelona announced Suarez will be out for four months. Huge loss for them and they will probably sign a replacement in January. Hopefully they won't come after Lautaro.
