Statistically, it is amazing to note that Mancini's Inter has steadily improved, season after season, since taking over the managerial reins at Inter.

In reality, it doesn't quite feel that way, does it?

It's psychological. The mind plays a trick on us.

2004/2005 felt much better than 2005/2006 because, I think, there were less losses. It doesn't help 2005/2006 that there were a lot of exciting matches and memorable comebacks in 2004/2005. Not to mention that we had the wonderful duo of Adriano & Martins who scored 50 goals in that season. Vieri and Cruz chipped in with around 15 goals each too.

There were also too much expectation placed last season and when they were not met, we were more disappointed. And, perhaps the most important reason, we ended 2005/2006 in a very bad way whereas, in 2004/2005 our season only got started in the 2nd half.

It's extremely hard to feel the game in a very objective way, isn't it? :)

I believe away game against Palermo will be a VERY tough one. I would be satisfied with the draw (at least beforehand).

...Who the hell is Palermo???

Certainly Inter 2006/2007 will be better! Because we will win the Scudetto and arrive in UCL Semifinal or Final :D

Not only have are we making great progress compared to previous seasons even though our schedule has been tougher this year. Seriously, we have faced Fiore, Roma and Milan away from home and won all of them.

I agree that our fixure list couldn't have been any tougher, but let us not forget that our scudetto rivals (Palermo and Roma) have also beaten Fiorentina and Milan, especially in Palermo's case as they won those two games away!!

Thus, we should forget what happened in the last two months and concentrate and work hard for the coming months.

Updated, it's incredible to see that during Mancini's first year, it took us until after day 18 to get to 30 points...

And now we only have 2 points less than Inter champion of 1988/89 (if we give a victory for 3 points instead of 2, much years ago it was 2 instead of 3)

If we win against Palermo next week, we'd then be keeping pace with the championship winning team of 88/89. :)

I dont like this thread, Superstitious I am. :D

We played lesser matches in 2004/5 ,because the Serie A was only 18 teams. Isnt it unfair/biased to compare those seasons and points?

I think it's fair, cause we judge it by every week, we can only do it in the first 34 or maybe less.
Anyway it was in 03/04 where 18 teams compose Serie A, in the next year it was 20.

I'm way too lazy to check it out, but isn't it 8 in a row now? Five in Serie A, two in CL and one in Coppa.

Now we have two huge games ahead of us. If we manage to win both, it's easily the best start to the season I have witnessed. The two hard fought and important victories in CL have shown character and nerve. Very good signs obviously. Only semi-choking was against Milan so far, we played with ten men and injured Vieira, and Milan had nothing to lose, so that's understood.

Well done boys! Winning even with bad game is what makes team a great one!

I realy cant believe that we are a massive 14 points ahead of where we were two seasons ago. However the Palermo game is going to be a formidable test for the mettle of these boys. Lets hope they can keep it going. I am sure Mancini will ensure that they know a win in the Barbera and they can go on cruise control till after the christmas break.
