Wrong.Smalling will be his replacement, probably with the same or even bigger salary since he's a free transfer. Are you excited about that?
“De Vrij can play for all the top European clubs. He has great experience and a high-level tactical approach. He is an extremely intelligent guy and clearly you can see that on the pitch. He is a player who can play anywhere.
“At the end of the year there will be many top clubs looking for a centre-back, there will be no shortage of opportunities, but his evaluations will concern not only the contractual aspect, but also many elements.”
I personally think he would prefer to stay in ItalyInter have decided to try and retain the 30-year-old Dutchman and have reportedly offered him a new two-year deal, with a similar salary to what he earns now. It’s unclear if De Vrij will accept this or not, however, as he’s also been heavily linked with a move to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham.
The Dutch defender had a good relationship with Conte during their two years together in the Lombardy capital and he may welcome the chance to play his trade in the Premier League.
Club is not desperate in this case: he can stay on a lower salary (matching his performances TBH) or leave. Will be 31 in February and still has some good years in him.Inter have offered Stefan de Vrij a 2-year contract with a salary of €3-3.5m. The defender asks for a 3-year deal with a salary of €4.2m + bonuses.
Corruption at utmostWhat do these "early discussions" involve?
Inter rep: "We would like to keep you here."
De Vrij: "Cool."
Inter rep: "No problem. Let's spend some money on food and tell everyone we had early discussions."
why pay if he's freeYou can have him for €15m. Add it to the Skriniar & Bastoni extension fund. Move Skriniar to the middle spot and find a fast, strong, ball-playing RCB. Someone like Antonio Silva (GOAT potential imho), Simakan, Scalvini (maybe even Okoli?) etc. I miss playing FM.
6 more months, he might extend or go elsewhere during that time as well. Kind of like why we paid for Eriksen. Happens all the time. €15m might be steep though.why pay if he's free
