This guy is so much better than Virgil van Dijk these days. De Vrij is better in every aspect of the game except appearance.

Don't have one.
Agree 100%. Some people think our biggest certainty is acerbi and de vrij needs to go, but for me, it's opposite. I'm fairly certain de vrij is one of those players that can play on this current level and without big slumps until his late thirties. Acerbi on the other hand gave me major declining vibes this season. Yes, he had an injury, but my hunch tells me natural decline is mixed up into that as well.

Acerbi is also like five years older than de Vrij.

I’m feeling somewhat bullish on a De Vrij “comeback.” He seems to have mentally recuperated from the sharp decline that was 2021-2023 seasons. And is and has always has been a very smart and skillful player. Let’s hope he ages gracefully like a lot of CBs do these days, especially ones in the Italian school. I think him being a longtime student of Inzaghi is also beneficial.

I tbh ink De Vrij is a great back up option for us in that role. However if you really want to compete for a Champions League for example I don’t think you can do that with De Vrij as your starter.

He’s just shown he folds under pressure in the biggest moments too many times for me.

I hope his appearance at the euros gets a EPL team to make us a silly offer for him and we take it :)

I've already shown that we concede less when De Vrij is on the pitch than Acerbi. They played similar minutes this season.

He had two subpar seasons, but 23/24 he did pretty good as far I am concerned.

Because he is used more to strength now then the other two season where he was way to often played too far upfield… He is a good when used to strength but just don’t let him run back against fast forwards… I never noticed much difference when he or Acerbi played.

The biggest issue is that he doesn’t have the minutes in him to more than rotating, hopefully Bisseck get the call because we can’t keep on relying on the two of Acerbi and him for ever.
