10 years of FIFHe's quite fragile mentally. This is a well-known thing actually. He tends to crumble under a difficult moment. He's been quite solid since joining Inter, and also had periods where he performs amazing, but you know he's going to pull a stinker once there's a match where strong mentality is required. He gets eaten when the tough keeps going.
It was kind of similar situation with Barella for quite a some time. But at least the latter has conquered himself and doesn't get affected by difficult moments anymore, while de Vrij is still the same.
You see Darmian for example. He's not a spectacular player, but his mentality gives him an edge over the rest, and difficult moments don't affect his performance. He's always the same, whether it's under pressure or not.
