Raiola confirmed there's a verbal agreement with Inter over De Vrij extension.
From the current 2023 until June 2025.

The Dutch centre-back seems set to renew with the Nerazzurri and Tuttosport writes he will earn around €5m a season at San Siro.

Well deserved, given his transfer market value raised from €40m in 2018 to €60m. :datass:

Unsung hero of last and this season. Can't see Inter without him, at least now.

Agreed also think most of football europe has not realized how good this dude is. Thats why i m quite confident he ll stay here for some time as i dont see a big offer come in.

The amount of earned salary is about right. I thought Mino Raiola would make a racket to hike up the figures, but somehow the negotiation proceeds smoothly.

Yeah if the demand is indeed 5m€, that's an instant "yes, when do we sign this paper?". De Vrij is great for us at the moment, but I feel when we switch to 4-man-defence, sometime in the future perhaps, he's not that great anymore. That salary mitigates the risk of moving to 4-man defence and DV returning to mortal form.

Stefan de Vrij has now won 50 games with Inter, considering all competitions.

He really suffers against target men. Ibra, Petagna, De Jong, even Cerri gave him trouble. Something to work on.

Awful match against Napoli. Their two best chances where because De Vrij fucked up / couldn't defend properly. Politano shot after he crumbled to the ground and then Petagna post shot in extra time when he was going to total opposite direction where Petagna was going, letting him shoot totally freely.

GdS published an interview with him. If someone has it and is willing to translate it, that would be nice.

De Vrij: 'Inter can talk about the Scudetto'
By Football Italia staff

Stefan de Vrij likes his new nickname and said Inter should be able to talk about the Scudetto, as he praised both Stefano Pioli and Antonio Conte.

De Vrij moved to Inter from Lazio on a free transfer in July 2018 and the 28-year-old played his 100th match in Nerazzurro against Hellas Verona.

The centre-back said he likes his new nickname ‘The Wall’ and is flattered by the comparison to former defender Walter Samuel.

“Yes, I like it,” De Vrij told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I didn’t have a nickname before in Holland.

“By the way, when I arrived in Milan, I was building a wall in my presentation video. I was lucky enough to speak to Samuel a couple of times at some event.

“He’s a good person and a very strong defender.”

The Dutch defender said the whole team have become ‘more compact’ in recent weeks.

“We have become compact as a team and this makes the whole defensive phase easier,” he continued. “We are a united and close-knit department.

“We also feel good off the pitch and this helps.”

The centre-back has played 100 games for the Nerazzurri and said the most disappointing match so far has been the defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League Final last term.

“Sometimes I think about it, but I immediately thing that it makes no sense to go back there with my head,” he said.

“What has been, has been. We can only learn from defeats.”

The Beneamata were eliminated from Europe this term, finishing bottom in Group B of the Champions League.

“Something in Europe is obviously missing, what we did on the pitch was not enough,” he admitted. “We would have liked to continue in Europe, but now we will try to do well in the Coppa Italia and the League.

“The fact that we are able to concentrate only on this can become an advantage, but it will depend solely on us and only us.

“All worlds are allowed in my vocabulary, even ‘Scudetto’. But just as it’s useless to look to far back, it’s also useless to look too far ahead.

“We are up there, and we want to get to the end. Winning game after game, starting with the next.”

Milan are currently first in Serie A and De Vrij praised his former coach Stefano Pioli.

“They have a good team and many strong players,” De Vrij added. “They seem very united.

“I know the coach very well, I worked with him for two years. He is very good, very human but also very prepared.

“I’m happy with his professional growth.”

But speaking of coaches, there was no shortage of praise for his current tactician Antonio Conte.

“He’s a winner. He pours his own desire on the team and tries to exploit all the potential that each of us has inside.

“He beats on that, transmits passion and mentality. He tells me I’m too good and should be tougher sometimes.

“Thanks to him, I have taken some steps forward. The negativity remains outside the gates because we are united, focused on the target and we forget what’s said about us.”

It's strange how I feel he is getting better, but we are leaking goals left and right this season.

Just want to give this guy a shout out. For defenders, no news is good news. De Vrij is becoming a steady figure like Merkel is to Europe. Occasional lapse of judgement but 90% of the time he's on the point. He's the oldest of our trio (28 years old). Most likely still have another 3+1 good seasons from him. Keep it up!

Stefan De Vrij: “When I saw it was a free kick, I went up to Eriksen and said, ‘this is your moment, this is the right moment.’ I’m really happy for him; we know the quality he has and what a wand that foot is!”

Before the altercation between Lukaku and Ibra this guy called de Vrij had been doing many things to annoy Ibra. Weird that no one mentioned it here (maybe I missed the post?). Skriniar also did a similar tackle towards Ibra which also seemed to upset Ibra.

I think our players have gone right into that cunts head since the beginning of the derby. Mad respect for de Vrij if this was intentional, I didn't know he had this side.
