Completely agree. He really has no incentive to leave, other than if he has another poor season he'll struggle to get a nice contract. He's betting on himself.

It depends on how the situation plays out. If we get Bremer, and Skriniar doesn't leave (or if the negotiations drag out longer), De Vrij will reconsider his chances here. It's a WC year, and he will want to be play consistently.

I would attribute his underperformance last season to the contract situation.

Anyone here felt under-appreciated at work? Now imagine you were the top defender of your team for 2 seasons and your employer didn’t give you raise.

How motivated would you be to perform?

Hopefully this season he'll play at an insane level to attract suitors, like Perisic.

Hope he can recover his best form soon. If not, Milenkovic might be a threat for his spot.

cds saying Inter wishes to extend his contract.

Better be on lower salary though.
Impossible, De Vrij can just walk away next season, where clubs like Inter will offer him more. Oh yea that’s the plan anyhow, to treat De Vrij like a free agent.

Yea it all depends on if he's in the plan, otherwise we'd be stuck with 5m salary

Don't have one.

I honestly thought that at the beginning, but now I don't think that was the case. I think it's just simple age related decline or inzaghi ball not suiting him like conte.

But it’s one season. It’s too early to make that conclusion.
