A club like this that is so resistant to changes will go the same way over and over again. This is why several players overstay at this club and their income is 10 times more than their outcome.

The issue is we can't have a backup cb earning over 3.5m net. His salary should be 2.5m at best.

Really dont have a problem with extending him as long as its around 2 mio per season net... Lets face it we ll need two new CBs if he leaves and we probably only have money for one decent one... So extending de vrij whilst lowering our salary cost aint to bad imho...
As i ve said multiple times our main goal should be to lower cost as much as possible without dismantling the squad... If he signs for say 2.5 mio net per season we d still save like 2.8 per season compared to this season.
