He can cut in great in 4-3-3 as wide forward. But in 4-2-3-1 he wont work. He is not the athlete to be running up and down all game long. He is smart player with great technique and passing, but not exactly hard worker. He is montenegrian after all :D

Some inside sources say that we are pushing hard to finish this deal before midnight, as he was our main target all summer by Mancini.

With Jojo and Perisic coming plus leaving of Shaq we will be left without a left-footed offensive player, and it's actually an important gap in the squad.

Gee, if we only had a left footed offensive player currently in the squad. Poor Mancini. :work:

You are correct. In a 4-2-3-1, Jovetic can ideally play as the AM/SS behind the CF, or even as the CF. But he will not be ideal on the wing, as Man City have found out.

But I have a feeling that Mancio plans to play 4-3-1-2 (which is an ideal formation for Jovetic) and 4-3-3 which is a good formation for Perisic.

Di Marzio: "Jovetic's agent in Milan, the point"
"The agent of Stevan Jovetic, Fali Ramadani, is in Milan and in the day could meet Inter, the team that follows the time profile of the player who really like to Roberto Mancini." So Gianluca Di Marzio updates on the negotiations that could lead to Milan Jovetic.

This doesnt make sense, we're not that rich to buy 2 players for 2 different formation. If Mancini wants versatility then keep Shaqiri and buy Salah.

Taking the last 5 seasons of jovetic is unfair assessment on him tbh. 5 seasons ago jovetic had a torn acl and put him aside for the whole 1 season. taking this season into you calculation definitely will lower his average minutes.

Jovetic played a total of 7032 minutes in the last 4 seasons which is on average 1758 minutes. If we divided the average by 90 minutes, then he would have average of 20 games per season. But then again, it is an unfair comparison. Kovacic, Medel and Brozovic have more time and chances to play. Jovetic faces more competition in Man City.

How about Shaqiri?
2014/15 1717 minutes.
2013/14 1226 minutes.
2012/13 1911 minutes.
2011/12 3081 minutes. (Basel)

average 1983 minutes in the last 4 years. average 1618 minutes in the last 3 years. Does this make Shaqiri a worse player than Medel, Brozovic, Kovacic, etc? Or this actually justifies the sale of Shaqiri to Stoke.

Jovetic had 2 good seasons with 29 games and 34 games after his ACL and before he went to City and started to have love hate relationship with hamstrings.

The problem with Jovetić isn't his quality as a player but his injury problems. You're ignoring that Jovetić have lost 19,4 Games per season on average in the last five season like I already said in the post you quoted, that's not a technical decision by the coach, or being out of form, etc.

Even if you ignore his ACL injury, which I don't why you would considering is a very real possibility he tears it up again, in his last 3 season he lost 14 games on average to injuries playing 1217 minutes on average, in his past 2 seasons he lost 17,5 games on average to injuries playing only 575 minutes on average.

That's just what he lost to injuries, without even taking into account the amount of time it takes to regain match fitness and even harder to regain form. If that not an awful injury record I don't know what it's then.

Basically we're betting on him having another 2 great seasons like his last two at Fiorentina even though it's very likely that never happens again, and even if it happens we sure as hell don't know when.

This guy needs games and minutes and confidence of the coach. In City he was just a backup . Give him a starter role and he will be great. We need the old beast JoJo from the Viola days.

Icardi can just randomly add +10 goals to his name for 15/16.
