just heads up guys, at $40 there is no oil, at $150 there is plenty of oil..

these crackhead energy CEOs that say they won't add to production, doubled down on supply at $50.. at $150 everyone and their mothers will pump oil.

yeah tomorrow can get interesting.. lets see where Arkk trades. But again i must repeat, in commodities, always take the opposite side. I am not saying to short oil, or oil etf's (they are DIRT Fucking cheap), at current prices and current production levels the FCF would be fucking INSANE.

Yeah my original oil price where i would sell my oil longs was 120$ now with the whole russia situation i m just not sure where the ceiling is/could be...
I also wonder at what point we might see a demand decline...

On another note does anybody have any good reading materials on the 1970s stagflation? Probably the best primer for todays markets but probably also the financial crisis i know the least about .

I guess ruble futures would probably be the easiest option if you have access....

Not sure about the premiums though...

The few options i could find look like they have 0 volume...

And i d guess that you d already be to late to short russian ADRs....

Full disclosure i m not a currency trader so there might be more elegant ways...
I can contact my buddy who is a currency trader if your serious about this.

On stagflation a few notes:

Russia does not have anywhere the same weighting on total global supply as the Embargo countries in 1970s - Implication - the shock will not be as significant
Oil as % of GDP has decreased significantly.. GDP in the developed world has largely shifted away from energy intensive uses.. plus think of it this way, Oil may be at the highest since 2014, but what every day item that you use is not highest since 2014?

What could cause problems IMO:

Hurdles in supply chains - arkk lunatic may have a point that a lot of innovation has had a great deflationary impact, but for me the biggest deflationary impact is the free trade on steroids. It's so good, it ended up being bad - victim of its success (very low inflation).
And here i see the biggest issue- Pent up demand from covid with ultra loose monetary policy in conjunction with supply chain constraints on the other hand are the perfect recipe for stagflation.. not oil

The efficiency of oil use has improved, in other words oil intensity has declined, over the years and decades. In 1973, for example, when oil intensity was at its zenith, the world used a little less than one barrel of oil to produce $1,000 worth of GDP (2015 prices). By 2019 (the last data set before Covid) global oil intensity was 0.43 barrel per $1,000 of global GDP—a 56% decline. Oil has become a lot less important and humanity has become more efficient in making use of it.

Had a price alert on Roku back in 2020 hoping it'd drop to below $100 so I'd buy it. Obviously I had completely forgotten about it.

So yeah, it hit today

listen to this bufoon:

The main headwind is a change to ADR, which requires them to get their audit in order within 24 months, or they will get de-listed..

and then he says, even if that happens it won't stop their growth rate. UN FUCKING BELIAVABLE.

In other news, Russia will pay back eureobonds in rouble, I will pay my debts back in pimpcoin.

Yeah had to go read the official statement to believe it, it really has become a circus. I wish the SEC would step in it s so obvious that mgm are fucken retail over, like why the fuck would they enter the mining business? There is 0 synergy and 0 experience or competence from the AMC bord in the mining business.
I know it s not illegal what they are doing but it is so obvious and the big boys are playing along cause why not drop their bags at a way overvalued price on retail. Sad thing is that retail would probably be pissed at regulators if they d step in. But i do hope that something is done so that we see less of this in the future.

Also rumors of Saudi negotiating with china on selling their oil in yuan: https://www.wsj.com/articles/saudi-...les-11647351541?mod=Searchresults_pos1&page=1

I think its a bit alarmist atm as these negotiations have been going on for 6 years but something to keep an eye on. Even though i dont think it will have the huge effect on the $ as bears are claiming.

Looks like Kevin got lucky huuge fucken rally in china.. Wonder where all that money came from...
Yes i know they promised to support markets but what does that even mean kicking the can even further down the road? Like they have evergrande plus that nickle trader that should be bankrupt since last week and now Yanggu Xiangguang Copper Co., lenders refuse to provide new loans or extend current ones due to liquidity concerns.....
Maybe take the hit now.

Those eurobonds will be considered as defaulted if paid in rubbles, even if paid on time.

Also that saudi wanting to seel oil in yuan rumor already been denied by the saudies...

Gonna be a heck of a day Russian default (even though technically only official in 3 months) and Powell will have to raise today

Yes and No just looking at BABA and the numbers they publish yes they look rather cheap/undervalued and under normal circumstances it is a good buy at these prices.
But when i look at their Accounting there are just to many red flags/numbers that are extremely hard to believe and impossible to verify. Further more china/XI just proved that if they dont like the company or the owner/ceo of the company they ll destroy your investment on a whim and theres nothing you can do about it.
I also became cautious of chinese ADRs as you basically have 0 claims on any of the equity of the parent company.

Like if i had trust in the political and economical environment then yes they seem undervalued but atm thats not a risk i like to take on,
