Summer Market

I only want to see one central defender this summer, and I´m satisfied. I really don´t believe that we need better players. We have the players already, and this is the squad I want to build this team around.

We need a coach who can utilize these players in the best possible way.

Agree with Jimmy. Patience is needed from us. Consistenct is needed by the players. Just take a look at Arsenal. Lehmann is their only buy at the summer and now they're almost invincible. IMO, the biggest reason why they can reach that status is consistency. The players are adapted to each other since they've played with each other for years already.

If we are playing with 3 defenders next season, another good defender will certainly reinforced our thin defense line. But if we're to change the coach and formation, assuming it's 4-4-2, our squad is perfectly fine in all areas.

Yes, we need a CB, but what about LB. I think that we definitely need to get atleast two good Defenders (CB and LB). Coco ?? His injuries .... ??

Yes, trust Coco. And Pasquale should be more matured come next season. Cordoba can play there too if needed.

Left back is not needed, since we first and foremost have Coco, and if not him, we have Pasquale and Brechet. We need to give Brechet another year to prove himself.

Quite frankly, we don´t need any starters whatsoever. :) Regardless of what formation we use, we have a great player to each position. This is why I don´t understand the Summer Market issue. It should be dealt with only bo off-loading some players.

And extend Gamarra´s contract if he accept his backup role, because he is great when he always play.

I absolutely agree with Jim and Han, a central defender (+maybe goalkeeper if Cordaz and/or Moreau aren't good enough) please and cleaning operation to get a rid of useless players .

It's the coach whom we need to invest.

But I am sure (I guess) that we will definitely get players for 2/3 positions:

(1) CB
(2) LB
(3) DM (not sure on this one only)

But well, it all depends on our future coach and his tactics ??

And ofcourse, we should get rid of the unwanted players.

I really hope Almeyda doesnt leave he has been solid when he played and he is a great asset to have really with his experience in midifeld. What i would do is get one really good young talent in defence(Mexes) and this time not loose him to another team like we did with other players that we saw play great with Milan and Roma...The next thing i would do is get a young talent for midfield someone like KAka maybe....

We still need a backup RWB. If, God forbid, JZ sufferes an injury anytime we are in deep trouble. At LWB we have 3 potential players were in RWB we have only one JZ (unless u count Helveg a decent RWB.) I'll be happy to promote a youth player but i think they play 4-4-2 so i don't think we'll find one there. I'm not asking for a world-class one, just a reliable backup. We should do like Roma and look for a decent one in Serie B since i don't see any potential purchase for us in Serie A.

Even though Helveg sux, he's good enough to be JZ's back up. Besides, why buy a back-up for a player who's never tired or injured??? :strong:

I don't think we need anyone in midfield, ecspecially. Hell, we have too many players in the midfield. IMO, we should have a squad which is not too big. I think one of our biggest problem under Zac is that no one knows whether they're a starter or now. And we have been switching 3-5-2 and 3-4-3 so many times the players are finding it hard to adjust to the formation.

Give them some time. Look at Arsenal. They gave Cygan time to adjust and I believe this season he has improved. They gave Toure a chance to shine and he too hasn't disappoint. Chance, time, patience and consistency. Those are what our players need. Football isn't all about transfers. And transfers activities is not the best solution to improve a team.

EDIT: Also, take a look at Roma. I believe they have a similar torrid season in 2002/2003 just like the one we're having now. What did they do??? Just buy 2 players. One of them to replace a player who's transferred. Other than that, they promote youngsters to the team and still use a pretty much similar squad. The result??? You can see it for yourself.

Yet another example, Milan. Other than Cafu, Pancaro and Kaka, most of the starters were starters too back last season. The result??? They've gelled up as a unit, got used to each other and have improved in the league a lot from last season.

Han I thought I would just point out Cygan is still playing rubbish, but I agree with what you were saying about Toure, he is developing into a top quality defender.

But I think he's doing better than last season. Also, mediocre players like Edu and G.Silva has improved too I believe. Buying a talent or two once in awhile is of course a good idea. But we already got 2 of them in the winter and getting some more in the summer will mean that the squad could be changed again and everyone has gotta adjust to whoever comes in. If there should be any newcomers in the summer, it has to be VERY minimal. And we should focus on selling, not buying players. :)

That's exactly what I meant Handoyo. Milan got three players :

Cafu
Kaka
Pancaro

Since Kaladze is getting injured most of the time and we know the other two new players' state. Cafu and Kaka have started most of the times. So ??
They got Cafu for the right back position and Kaka to bring quality to their midfield.

In the same way, we can also bring in 2/3 quality players who would be able to start. Not fringe players like Lamouchi, Karagounis who might be good but ...... We already got many players of that calibre. All we need to do is invest like Milan by bringing such 2/3 quality players and hope from them to finally deliver something ....

We already have quality players. Just that they never got chance to play with each other consistently since one or two is/are always ruled out by either injuries or suspensions. Again, no need for anymore quality players. Give our current one some TIME!!!

That doesn't guarantee he'll remain like that forever. Remember this summer he has some WC qualifications and the Coppa America so he'll be exhauted next year. We can't make the same mistake and have Helveg for next year. We really need a young RWB.
