I'm in Switzerland for a couple of days, for no apparent reason. I always pay for everything on card. My girlfriend, bless her soul, insists on taking cash out everytime we travel somewhere that doesn't accept USD. So she goes to some local currency exchange place back home and buys less than $100 worth of Swiss Franc.

Well, we arrive in Switzerland and no one will accept the fucking cash. Why? Apparently it was discontinued in April of 2021. It's worth less than toilet paper. I tried using the old currency at a grocery story, a restaurant, and a chocolate store, and only the grocery store would take them (because the associate wasn't paying attention). The chocolate store actively thought I was trying to rip them off.

Now I have to run to a bank in Switzerland tomorrow morning and hope they will let me exchange the old Franc for new Franc. Of course, I'm leaving Switzerland tomorrow, meaning that I'll have to convert the money back to Euros. Ergo, I paid ~$15 to convert money from USD, to Franc, and back to Euros.

If you don't find an open bank office. the post office will also take the old currency. Post offices open relatively early (compared to bank offices). Which city are you at?

Whoops, the post office stopped accepting the old currency 2 weeks ago 😁. I you are in Zurich or Berne, your could exchange it at the central bank.

I'm in Geneva. The hotel gave me the name of some bank nearby that accepts the old currency. Hoping it works, or else it's being donated to a homeless dude on the street.

A bit cruel to give useless money to a homeless dude?

Well, it's not quite useless. Someone who knows what they're doing could put in 20 minutes of work and have real money. But I have an early train to catch, right around when the banks open.

hopefully she is not like the old frank.

Drove back 10 pm at gym, local barber had lights on, sweet I need a haircut. Go in, guy says he is not working, just waiting on someone to pick up the water boiler - he sold it as he needed gas money to drive down to a girl. What a gangster.

For f*ck sake why are there still people who think to can come to work and infect the place without colleagues knowing about it. That you think it's all bullshit and corona isn't that contageous is your choice, keep me the f*ck out of it. Perfect example for why we are still in this mess. People don't take it seriously enough and people don't want to call in sick just because they catched a cold(which it wasn't).
From what I know, one does start feeling the symptoms after 1-14 days (5.6 days on average) since the infection started, that's what they call incubation period. So it's hard to really know whether you are infected or not. I tested negative before going to office in summer after a long absense and just 1 day later I started feeling the symptoms. It turned out, before I came, there were like 3-4 people having seek leave due to corona, one after another. Had to quarantine myself for 2 weeks with positive corona. Go figure now where I had gotten the infection...

LOL what the fuck....
Also just out of curiosity did your girl go to some shady exchange back home that fucked her over on purpose or did she just do this half a year before your travels?
Side note: could have fooled me with those old notes

She went to a local exchange place last week. It's a mom and pop shop, but I wouldn't call it shady. I'm guessing they've been holding on to the old cash for the past two years. Not sure if they were aware of the fact it was useless and dumped it on her, or if they were just oblivious.

Anyway, got the money exchanged this morning without issue.

I've watched every single minute of the case, so that'd be around roughly 50 hours of trial the last week and a half.

I'm not sure this is the place for it, though.

He was found innocent on all counts, it appears. I don't know the specifics so I can't opine. I'm guessing he might still get cleaned out in Civil court.

Didn't watch a single minute of it, but knew what it was about. As for the verdict? Nothing surprises me anymore with this country. Tbh, whatever the verdict a violent reaction will probably be forthcoming. It's like Sanchez injured on international break and Sensi injured and will miss 3 to 5 matches... predictable.
