Still waiting on my insurance company to reach an agreement on roof repair and other damage from the hurricane. Their initial estimate was 7k, my roof estimates are coming in north of 20K with work completed around August. 2023 is going to be great!

that sucks man. I think insurance is a scam and so are the roofing companies. Like I had a small leak that was caused by my gutters not being installed correctly in the house we purchased.

I called a few roofing companies to just fix the small area. One guy came and was like.... hey I use to be an insurance adjuster. I think I can get you a new roof because you have "wind damage". I live in CT. I was like I just want the small area fixed he said it would cost me $1k regardless.

So he had an adjustor come and they said no but he kept having the adjustor test the singles until he found 1 that had "wind damage". I got a new roof for $1k. He did it for 3 of my coworkers too. I asked a few other people and they said the same thing.

My team is only 4 people plus me. I asked for more resources and was told to not hire in my state because of this.

How is this handled in Europe? You guys not as understaffed so it’s cool to take 6 months off as a dude when you have a kid?

Like my bosses are so pissed and like the two guys careers are over.

In Canada it's pretty protected. I took off about 9 months off since my wife wasn't working at that time so government pays 55% of your salary up to an amount, luckily my company topped up to 85% so it was nice.

Kinda sucks that they leave for 3 months because then you can't really replace them as you need time to train anyway. What do you mean by their carreer is over? Ur bosses will fire them or something?

I have the rights to:
- 5 days of paternity leave if my wife is not working or not going back to work immediately;
- up to 6 months of paternity leave if my wife is going straight back to work.
In some parts of the country, women get up to 80% of their salary on maternity leave, in others the government provides nothing and it's up to the company to pay as much as they want.

Europe is like 50+ different jurisdictions, even within the EU it's not a single policy.

In BiH we have two entities (Federation BiH and Republika Srpska), which both have their own policies, that are then further dictated by cantons (Federation has 10 of those, Republika Srpska less)

well he taking 4 months this year and took December off. They can't fire him because he is protected they just are kind of labeling him the black sheep now. I mean I took a month off when my kids were born. None of my jobs I could take 4 months (tho the 3 months is a new law last year). I think my bosses are just pissed because they are older and didn't take any time off.

Just career growth wise the people under him can take his spot in the time he is gone. One of my best friends became a VP really quickly because she had 4 bosses have babies and kept doing their jobs so they just gave her the role.

Their career is over because they had a baby? Murica lol that's insane.

I'd only get 10 days paternity in the UK. My GF would get 9 months off but the pay is shit. We'd basically be living off my salary for that period

Yea, goal of big companies is understaff to make most profits for the top guys. I mean I work for a fortune 10 company. I can honestly say it's more cut throat than the hedge fund world..... you just don't get the $$$$$$$$ you do for killing yourself.

Like I hear shit all the time when I try to get my people more money or bonus. Or when people complain that we are understaffed and the workload is 50-60+ hours a week when it should only be 35. They just go remind them of where they are working and how lucky they are. It's like dude we aren't curing cancer and people work for money.

Here it's more of a high school vibe and if people like you and who your friends are. You can also fail up. I've never seen shit like this in the past.
