When I said insurance I meant car insurance. In the US unless you live in a super major city then public transportation isn't an option. Even then it's not cheap it's like $3+ each way and takes a while.

car insurance also depends on what coverage you're getting, but you're not paying 2k a year for sure

health insurance even if you work for a company and they pay 50% or more of it its pretty expensive 50-250 per check.

again the 2-3k is normal rent. I am not talking about renting in Manhattan. Even a crappy town now that houses use to cost 150k in a shithole area. Like 3-5 houses got torn down then they make a 80 + apartment building that is "luxury" because its new and is 2-3k+
2-3k rent for a 5k salary is acceptable
1k rent for 1k salary isn't

People keep bringing up absolute numbers on this discussion but you can't really compare them when salaries are so much different. The only metric is the ratio expenses/salary.

in the US income taxes are 20-60% of your income depending on state and income level. you also pay sales tax in CT 6.35% on everything you buy. (Connecticut and the richer states that you actually want to live in the sales tax is pretty high).

property tax depending on where you live is also high think in my town its $43 for every $1,000 your property is worth (home, Car). It's pretty cheap I lived in a town that was $75 every $1,000. (was in a poorer town somehow)

You also have insurance for home/car (2-5%)

in the US they say you shouldn't rent/own anything that is more than 30% of your income.(not sure if they mean before or after tax) tho most people even when doing very well are hitting under 30% unless they bought their home very very cheap when rates were 2-3% in interest.

average car lease/payment is $550/m and thats not something fancy. So you're looking at 10%+ of take home pay.

also groceries your looking at another 10%

thats why almost everyone in the US has credit card debt.

Get a better dealer on car lease. You can lease a new car for 300.

Lets be real here taking the Eu or the US and the compare averages is fucken usless....
Huuge difference if we re talking San Francisco or even huston lets not even start with cities like milwaukee... Same goes for Europe heck the cost difference between Berlin and Munich is huuuuuge............
Also side not god damn Crzd your through and through american......

Anyways i originally cane here to bitch about my TV subscription found out that my provider dropped serie A after hicking prices to fucken 30$ per months for the sports channels... So ofcourse on sat 10 mins before the game i found out that i now have to get a dazn subscription to watch serie a.... Now while signing up there are two options one is for 30 bucks/ months the other 40$. Me thinking i only really wanna watch inter and serie A so i ll probably go for the 30$ one, while reading whats included in the 30$ one i find out that not every round of serie a will be shown with that subscription and the ones that are not shown will be on sky which is another 20$/months......
Only good thing is hat in the 40$ subscription you get to see every serie A game so i went with this. But still what the actual fuck 40$/months is way to fucken much since i barely have time to watch games outside of inter. Like i remember 10 years or so back when (paid) sports streaming started to be a thing I was excited as i though i m gonna be able to watch more games at a cheaper price then i was paying back then which was 19$/months. But of course everything with fucken tech/silicon valley bros gets ruined and optimised for profit fucken disgrace. How is there not a serie a streaming service where i pay some 10/15$ per months and i get to see all the serie a games i can go to the local pub if i wanna watch another league.

Then again i guess i m the sucker as these fucks could charge me almost anything as long as it s the only way i get to see inter live, in good quality and with 0 hustle....

Yeah, but we can deduct property taxes as an expense on our tax returns.

Expense against what? Income tax? Or your investment capital gain?

Only property tax is high, but they don’t have a state income tax.

Interest payment to the bank (I'm assuming you are talking about mortgage here and not interest you earn from the bank) is an expense. How can you expense against an expense?

It's a deduction to taxable income.

That is not true….

Only if you don’t take a standard deduction which is massive now. Which by for me is 29,200 as we filed married. My property tax isn’t that high it use to be property, income tax’s could both be netted now it’s either or and cuts off at 10k

Same with interest expense

Also forgot who called me out on the 500+ lease. Sure you can get $300 lease but they want you putting down $5k and that’s for a garbage car

In Boston I had an Audi Q5 and my wife had a Lexus is. Now we have a Nissan rogue (cheapest suv you can get) and she just picked up a Toyota Corolla sport(pretty much a suv of the Corolla)

Car prices are fking Nuts especially now that interest isn’t 0%

I mean, it's true if you don't claim the standard deduction. I itemize every year because it's more beneficial to me financially.
