Looking for some help here.

I got a job offer last night from a friend whose business is expanding and doing really well. The pay is better than what I'm making currently, it's 8 hours a day instead of my current 9, and I'd be working with my long-term friends (they own the business together).

I talked about it with them more and have been pretty excited tbh, so I basically told them I'd give my 2 weeks and join them. I go and tell my boss that I want to give my 2 weeks but he said he's willing to match my pay and hours (I'd be making more than some of my higher-ups). He then tells me the business is making 40-50 million this year and that by next year I could almost double what im making now. I dont exactly believe I'd ever make double what im currently making now lol.

I just feel I'd be happier with my friends now. I want to maintain a good relationship with my current employer but I feel like if I decline his offer it could make things sour. On top of that I've been thinking, if the business is making so much why do I make so little? Why was he willing to match their offer immediately? If that's the case shouldn't I and my other co-workers be making a lot more than we should given how much work we are responsible for?

I'm kind of torn here. I can continue how things are with a decent increase in pay and hours that would have me be happier or I can move on to a new place with those things in place for me from the get-go. I'd be missing health benefits but thats about it really.
Mixing bussiness and friendship is often not a good idea. However, accepting a counter offer from your current employer isn't a good idea either. Now they know you are not "loyal" and will let you go the first chance they have; unless you are really indispensable for that company. Just like William said, he's dangling carrot in your face in my opinion.

So if I were you I'd go with your friend as you've already told them you'd join them.

Ps. I know our Healthcare is free but Goddamn, I sure love free massage, dental, etc in my health benefits.

If you don't mind me asking, what line of work sre you in without giving out too much info.

All corporations are full of assholes. It doesn't matter if your work is worth millions to them, they'll still pay you based on some arbitrary b.s.

The only issue is to be careful mixing work with life. It's quite easy for things to go south. I'd rather make friends at work, than work with friends, if that makes sense.

I'd say the biggest concern I'd have for me is, how would I feel talking to my friends about getting time off. Or asking for a raise after a few months or a year. If you have no issues with that go for it

Another thing, how would you feel if they were asking you to do things and then possibly criticising your performance?

As for your current job, that's typical. When you leave they offer you money. Easier said than done but if I were you I'd ask them for way more than just matching the counter.

Always a tough choice, but things always work out in the end. Good luck

Thanks for the responses.

In terms of working under my friends: I'm not really concerned. I've known them my whole life and they're genuinely smart guys. We're all professional and know how to keep it that way. I actually believe in their business a lot.

I went to go speak with them yesterday and I actually brought up the things you mentioned @Harpsabu and I was pretty satisfied with their responses. I pretty much talked to them about the stuff everyone mentioned here, and everything sounds good.

@brakbrak I specialize in e-commerce with a background in sports. My current company and my friends company both have me working in e-commerce but not within the sports industry. It's fine though.

@pupivn thank you for the kind words. I try to be loyal and the best worker where ever I go. I'm not worried if things don't work out.

perfume reviews pages are fucking wild

I bought a sample of this, the fruity sweetness is a bit much and gives me nausea, but I kept coming back for whiffs. It's addictive and slightly unpleasant. Decided not to buy for now because the smell is reminiscent of something I would smell in a mall on a metrosexual looking well-dressed individual of minority. I met said description I would defiantly give this a sniff. But for a 20s something white guy, it's going to be difficult to incorporate into your wardrobe.

Need a link for that, seems like an awesome way to kill some time at the office for a day or two.

there's loads of them (the metrosexual minority is here)

there's some others,

When Uomo agrees with me I like it very much. I wish I could tell saffron notes, but to me the opening is simply an impression of moonlight illuminating dark flowers that could perhaps be violets or maybe crocuses.

This is a very noctural fragrance. The flowers fade, as flowers do, but their sweetness is sustained by the heart. I do not smell it so much as honey, but there is something soporific about this stage, almost anaesthetic, especially as it grows more intimate.

The final cedar skin scent lasts a long time on me -- when I first got it, the base clung until i washed it off a couple of days later. I suspect it lasts forever on fabric.

When it doesn't agree with me, it is like the anaesthetic qualities take over from the soporific and it seems like something I feel compelled to scrub off to fix the mistake I made by applying it, when its nocturnal character is unwelcome. Perhaps I should avoid it for bright daylight use.

Incidentally there is an Avon body wash called simply "Man" [TRANSLATOR'S NOTE: "Man" means "Uomo"] which favours it quite well. And speaking of bottles, the one for this is gaudy and great.

This thread is nearly 10 years old and 345 pages long. To think that it originated from a drunken rage-post by me after a mate's mate was being a flog.

i mean what did people expect.

also the Us has been there for 20 fking years. They didn’t build up an army or way to protect themselves in that much fking time?

good reminder to the Us to stay the fk out of other countries. That was a massive waste of time /money /effort /lives on part of the Us.

1/10th of that money spent on infrastructure and we would be teleporting to Mars by this point. Or spending that on medical research maybe we wouldn’t get the fking cold any more.

The problem is ordinary Americans think their government go to these countries to build or bring what you call "democracy" 😜 and somehow in the end people think "oh they have failed in their noble cause", pathetic really, in reality they did exactly what they wanted, which is to destroy countries and steal their resources and then fuck off when their is nothing left to destroy or steal.

USA withdrew its troops from Afghanistan because heroin is no longer a profitable business. They don't need to control heroin money anymore. Heroin is out of fashion.
