@Harpsabu @Sawyer Is it true that there are no water charges in Ireland? That the creator of Guinness beer bought this from the state and exempted all Irishmen from paying for water? )
Lol, I don't know about guiness. But where I live in the North there are no water charges at home. Tap water is free. Not sure about down south
Brakbrak that's insane. I bought a 4 bed semi detached house in a nice area for £139k a year ago. My mortgage is like £480 a month. House prices are rising here but are still cheap compared to many places.

Jesus Christ, for that price you can buy villa here on the coast with pool, 4-5 apartments, all the luxury stuff :D

Second largest city in country, if it was me i would rather choose to live there tbh then Rijeka, but that's only coz i already lived there for 10+ years :ROFLMAO: cost of living is similar to Zagreb, maybe rent is bit lower, you could probably find even lower house/apartment in Solin which is like 2 min drive from Split.

Lmaoooo yea, I'm privileged enough to have a paid off condo in Toronto. Otherwise with how things are right now, I'd be depressed af lol

Imagine being able to rent a nice 3 bedroom house for 1500cad like Harpsabu mentioned?

In case people are curious, a 3 bedroom 1500-1800sqft townhouse 1h away from downtown Toronto costs about $1.3m CAD, same house was 700k in 2019
Is Toronto the best place to live in Canada? I had a discussion with a colleague who lived in Canada for years during a business dinner last night. According to him, the only bearable place in Canada is Ottawa which caught me a bit surprised. I always considered Toronto the place to live in Canada. Curious about yours and other Canadians opinions on his claim.

Ottawa? I wouldn't even go on vacation there.

All kidding aside, personally I think it is. Great night life( no more for me since I'm now a dad), great food all around, traffic is somehow bearable and it's very diverse so you can find most things from other cultures here.

I don't really like Vancouver, I'm not trying to see bear and coyotes living in Calgary /s, I don't speak French so living in Montreal or Quebec city could be a challenge, Ottawa is Ottawa - nothing to see there imo

The only downside of Toronto compared to other Canadian cities(or should I say GTA(Greater Toronto Area) which includes 4 other regions is living cost, housing prices is basically nuts anywhere in the GTA; almost comparable to Vancouver. If you didnt get in RE early, its so hard to afford housings now. I've personally lived in GTA since I came here about 15 years ago and wouldn't live anywhere else (except for Indonesia, of course).

@Lui @TheNetworkZ can probably give an insight too.

It depends on what you're looking for. Toronto is the equivalent of living in NYC. It's where most of the diversified jobs and most of the people are. However, there's zero bang for your buck and it's quite crowded. Ottawa is a boring city.

Out west is very popular. Vancouver is a lot like Seattle, mild climate and very picturesque. If you're an outdoorsy person you'll be able to find a lot to do. The cost of living is higher here, but there are good careers to be had.

Alberta is like Texas. Conservative, oil-dominated, and lower taxes. It's cold as hell, and the economy is in constant turmoil because of how closely it's tied to the oil industry. I know a lot of people who moved out here and like it.

Anything in the praries or out east is a hard no, for me anyway. And no one likes French Canadians (Quebec). Quebec is like California in that everything about them has to be "special," except they don't have the beaches, warm climate, or beautiful people to make it worthwhile.

Vancouver is amazing.

Toronto is like NYC or London. Probably better for a foreigner who's looking for a job opportunity with some career potential that will drain whatever comes into your wallet until you get yourself a much better role/position after 3-5 years.

That’s how Boston was

I had a $3k apartment with 4 friends wasn’t even the nicest area.

Your friends move in with their gf or move out of state to be near family or gf then it’s like wtf am I paying 1k a month to live in a shithole to be near 5 bars. (Pussy is free when you live that close to that many bars tho - nothing works better than saying I live 1-2 blocks away and have booze at home :)

Move to Connecticut bought a house I fixed up that is 3x bigger than my old apartment with an acre of land. Pretty happy but working from home I’m like man if I just work from Colombia with my US salary I’d live like a god.

Yes. Montreal is 2nd best if you can stomach the French, I am Italian so they make me sick. Ottawa is a dump and known for its crackheads. Vancouver is beautiful but the warmest it gets there is like 20c, and from what I remember their housing market might be worse than Toronto's. If I didn't live here but had to stay in Canada I can't say I'd like my options tbh. Montreal at least has good food and a fun nightlife but I could never picture myself living there full time. There is a sizeable Italian population there, so that's not bad, but I'm not learning French.

Toronto has amazing restaurants, great nightlife, and a diverse portfolio (neighborhoods for all different ethnicities). If you're into music/comedy it's always going to be a guaranteed stop for most tours, that's a plus in my eyes. A big negative for me is how overly liberal a lot of it is, it's very in your face and very fake if that makes sense. I'm sure most major cities in NA are like this though, maybe Britain too.

Ottawa is a small city btw the population is just under 1 million.

Don't worry, French people are hated everywhere in Europe. The popular phrase: ''France is a great country but to bad French people live there'' is one of my favourites.

I pay $2000 for a 1 bedroom apartment in DC, USA, and it's considered a very good price.
