Eric B. & Rakim - My Melody

"I take 7 MC's put em in a line
And add 7 more brothas who think they can rhyme
Well, it'll take 7 more before I go for mine
And that's 21 MC's ate up at the same time"

"My name is Rakim Allah, and R & A stands for "Ra"
Switch it around, but still comes out "R""

BDP - My Philosophy

He raps on and on for about 7 minutes...

Biggie - Warning/Everyday Struggle/Suicidal Thoughts

Nas - N.Y. State of Mind(although I have to say I'm biased because of the beat)

Ice Cube - Today was a good day

Lyrics wise, I put Rakim, Krs, Biggie, Nas and Mos Def among the 5 best ever.

I dont blame you on the Nas track..That beat is just extremely ghetto and wil mak anyone sound good.

But very very good choice, i like your taste. I rate mos very highly, with Talib, Common, Nas and and ne-yo!!!lol

yeah...it'S from both. :)

I should have "The World is Yours" there too...actually the whole illmatic album.

If you get a chance, try to watch the Jay-Z Nas thing on YouTube, where they perform together Dead Presidents and The World is Yours and then try to watch the Illmatic Promo video. Too great to be true..

Dead Presidents is among my Jay-Z top5 songs.

How ya'll rate Chamillionaire?

Extremely overrated. Better then Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Slim Thug and all those other Texas rappers, though. This is the only Southern style rapper that cracks my 'top' list:

You obviously haven't heard Lil Wayne's albums, then. Pick up Carter I or Carter II, dude.

Paul Wall ain't half bad. I've been thinking about picking up Lil Weezy's new album. I heard it was pretty good.

Bun B does good stuff too but I've always been fond of UGK, since way back in the day.

Sorry Gaetan, dont let my harsh teasing seem in any way seem condescending...its just im not motivated enough with this genre anymore, doesnt have its essence...never mind that, i will take your word, and download both the albums, jus for trying out' sake.

by gosh, hip hop is dead.

through amazon, I pre-ordered the new Ice Cube album (laugh now, cry later)....recieved it last night, eagerly listened to it.

Good album, probably the best album since KRS or Rakim's last one, but Ice Cube standards, a catastrophe.
It seems as if Cube has the mentality that he can't sell unless he changes his style for the modern generation, the generation which has been brainwashed by the likes of Nelly, 50 Cent & every single South side rapper, it seems as if Cube thinks he has to target that audience.

Absolute shame, as I always thought Cube was in that short line of rappers who would never change their style, always be the hard lyricist and be the true icon that he was when he first started. Production from Lil'Jon and a few songs with Snoop Dogg are gonna taint his reputation.

best songs are "why we thugs" & "growin' up" (great song, first time I've ever really heard Cube thank Eazy, awesome to see how he was talking about Lil'Eazy as well).

worst songs are anything with production from Lil'Jon & Snoop Dogg.

shame.

That is rap my friends.

I know its economics and gross domestic product but you get the jist of it :D

Rap's fallen so much its really unbelievable, i only really enjoyed bay area rap, but since the death of Mac Dre and everyone trying to make a profit out of its also gone down hill.

One of my favourite albums of the year probably is Champ Bailey's and not just his first album but his mixtapes too.

Only possible things to look foward to this year...

Crooked I (hurry the PHUK up already)
Daz/Kurupt Cali iz active(we can always hope itd decent)
BWF3
HollowTip
8ball n MJG

Sorry for the triple post guys,i dont know why it did that.

Well the thing is guys rap hasnt really fallen of,you just have to look for stuff, there is so much stuff out there that you may like its incredible,i for one like alot of different hip hop, south, east, west,i couldnt care,if its good its good, its not a problem with having people like nelly.50 cent etcc, the problem is that right now there are the artists that are talking 100%,you should have people like KRS,the roots all that and also people like 50,south but right now its all pop,and thats what is making hip hop look dead.

Try looking it some soul assassins stuff,my favourite hip hop right there, cypress hill, son doobie, house of pain, all that stuff,i just get hooked on cypress and son,i can listen to the cds for months, then you got wu-tang who always put out classic albums, gza just released an album with cypress hill's muggs this last december, def squad stuff, redman and erick sermon have great albums, you have the redman/method man album which is a classic to me,there is alot of stuff,in the summer i can upload some stuff here.

:horny:

You and me both brother. I've been waiting for Crooked to drop since I first heard him on Kurupt's Tha Streetz is a mutha (excellent cd btw). Not too sure about about DPG's new album though. Neither Daz or Kurupt have the hunger anymore. Not impressed by the song Cali iz active either.

Waiting more on Lil Easy than Dogg Pound to be honest.

There is unfortunately too much pressure on Prince of Compton to deliver, that I reckon its gonna fail. I hope for the sake of his father he doesn't make a fool of himself, but from what I've read, some of the production is pretty good and a debut single featuring Bone Thugs cannot possibly fail.

I used to love H.E.R. isn't the Ice Cube-West Side Connection Diss. Ice Cube thought he was dissing him, so he dissed Com.

Common's diss was "The Bitch in Yoo"...one of the better diss songs I know.

But the Resurrection LP is still Common's best album, by FAR!!!!
