Transfer Rating Criteria:
1. How well has the club covered the gaps exposed last season
2. How much the squad has improved relative to the net money spent
3. How suitable is the final squad to the coaches requirements

intericon.png
INTER
Key signings: Joao Mario, Gabigol, Candreva, Ansaldi, Banega
Net Transfer Inflow = €13m sales - €113m costs = -€100m
Analysis: Big spending shows intent, with 3-4 quality buys. The desire to hold on to their stars (Icardi, Brozovic, Perisic) shows further intent. Improved wing and playmaking - two of the drawbacks last season. Missed improving the defence or defensive midfield. You would expect to improve the squad more with such a big investment. An average job of getting rid of unwanted players. How suited these transfers overall are to new coach is a big question mark, specially because Inter now look talent heavy in some roles and weak in others.
Rating: 6.5

milanicon.png
MILAN
Key signings: Fernandez, Palasic, Sosa, G Gomez, Suso, Paletta
Net Transfer Inflow = €15m sales - €27m costs = -€12m
Analysis: Underwhelming transfers for a club of their reputation, constrained by change of ownership scenario. Milan need much more to get back to the top 3. However, the incoming players seem to be relatively well suited to Montella's game.
Rating: 5.5

juventusicon.png
JUVENTUS
Key signings: Higuain, Pjanic, Cuadrado, Pjaca, Benatia, Alves
Net Transfer Inflow = €164m sales - €163m costs = €1m
Analysis: Sold 2 key players (Pogba & Morata) but replaced them with the best player in Serie A in that position (Pjanic, Higuain). Added 4 more quality players, with a positive net inflow and a huge transfer profit. If they had succeeded in signing Witsel or Sissoko, this could have been a 10/10 calciomercato summer. Remarkable strategy, these motherfuckers are good.
Rating: 9

romaicon.png
ROMA
Key signings: Peres, Vermaelen, Fazio, Szczesny, Juan, Paredes, Alisson
Net Transfer Inflow = €64m sales - €98m costs = -€34m*
Analysis: Very focused transfer strategy to improve the weak defence that let them down last season. The Sporting Director and coach seem to be in perfect sync. The loss of Pjanic being the main negative. Transfer flow shows an incorrect picture, 90% of the money spent was on deals done last season. This window, Roma spent only 10-12m on new players. For that money, they did very well.
Rating: 6.5

lazioicon.png
LAZIO
Key signings: Luis Alberto, Bastos, Leitner, Wallace, Immobile, Lukaku
Net Transfer Inflow = €27m sales - €35m costs = -€8m
Analysis: The usual disappointing transfer window that Lazio fans have come to expect. They replaced Klose well with Immobile, but Candreva will be a big miss. The main positive is that Lazio managed to keep hold of some of their stars like Biglia, De Vrij and Anderson.
Rating: 5

napoliicon.png
NAPOLI
Key signings: Maksimovic, Rog, Diawara, Zielinski, Milik, Giaccherini, Tonelli
Net Transfer Inflow = €99m sales - €79m costs = €20m**
Analysis: Higuain will be a huge loss, but they got good money for a 29 year old. Napoli were also clever on the transfer market by focussing on building depth in most areas. Milik and Gabbiandini may not be able repeat Higuain's heroics, but in all other areas of the pitch Napoli have strengthened. Showed balls to keep hold of Koulibaly despite crazy offers. Another team like Juventus and Roma where these seems to be a good sync between the Sporting Director and the coach.
Rating: 7.5

fiorentinaicon.png
FIORENTINA
Key signings: Olivera, Salcedo, Tello, Carlos Sanchez, Toledo, Astori
Net Transfer Inflow = €35m sales - €14m costs = €21m
Analysis: A transfer campaign which looks incomplete. Managed to keep hold of Kalinic, but failed to improve their attack. Made good money on Alonso, so ended up doing well financially.
Rating: 5

*Roma's spend includes €78m on players signed last year like Salah, Dzeko, Rudiger, Perotti, Shaarawy, etc.
**Napoli's net inflow does not include the costs of Maksimovic and Rog which will impact next summer (€33m)

Erm, in my view.

Inter - 7/10

We bought at least 4 new starters and I mean players of great quality, we can't buy a whole new team every year, so it's a good start.

Milan - 4/10

They were expected to make waves on the market and I see shit from them. Mediocre business.

Juve - 10/10

Yeah, could even be 11/10 if they bought Witsel or another MF, but three world-class players in one mercato is more than enough for a 10/10.

Roma - 6/10

Meh, although they strengthened where they should've.

Lazio - 4/10

Meh

Napoli - 8/10

Added depth, not bad.

Fiorentina - 5/10

Meh

I think 6.5 is a little harsh for us. It's hard to deny that we added a lot of quality, especially in the front half of the team. The let downs are obvious though, still missing a good RB, defense probably a little thin, and we may or may not be a little light on the DM position (from a quality standpoint not numbers). However we will have to see how De Boer can make the team work before we judge.

I may be wrong here but wasn't Pjanic very inconsistent and his stats was boosted by set pieces? They got 72 Million on Pogba and paid 94 Million on Higuain. Not sure that's a 10/10 window. They have signed lot of good young players though but they lost key players who contributed a lot like Pogba and also Morata who was superb for them in CL. Subbing out Morata was the reason why Juve lost CL game against Bayern, he was that good in that game.

They signed young players like Pjaca but we signed players like Depay who tore Dutch league apart and made superb contribution in World cup, turned out he wasn't that good in big league (still plenty of time to adapt though)

On the other hand I rate Inter's window a lot. Quality player like Ever Banega for free is a superb business.

My problem with Inter's transfer season is that it looks better on paper than it actually is. 4 quality players, yes. But for e.g. if we had bought a top quality RB (say Darmian) instead of Gabigol, I would have rated us much higher. We look overloaded with talent in some positions, and pretty poor quality in others (RB, DM, etc).

Pjanic is very inconsistent, but he's also one of the best set piece takers in the world, so it's hard to say his stats are "boosted" by them.

Plus, they bought Dani Alves who MIGHT not be great. and will command massive massive wages.

I understand why ours isn't higher. Gabigoal, was he needed? No. We didnt sell players like Rano, Eder/Palacio, JoJo, we haven't fixed the Fb problems.

We still deserve around a 7 though.

That's what I'm saying. Excellent set piece taker but inconsistent overall play. People (usually EPL fans) who never watched him go on and on about how great he is quoting his stats. He is good player though.

Exactly. They have to replace him few players in defense in next year or 2. Buffon, Evra, Dani Alves, Barzagli.

Bonucci, chiellini, Benatia are all close to 30 or 30 plus. Once you are there then you never know how your body copes with top level football. Their transfer dealings are very overrated this season.

Juve First XI: Buffon; Benatia, Bonucci, Chiellini; Dani Alves, Khedira, Marchisio, Pjanic, Alex Sandro; Dybala, Higuain

Juve Reserve XI: Neto; Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Rugani, Evra; Sturaro, Lemina, Asamoah; Cuadrado, Mandzukic, Pjaca

I don't know what you guys are talking about. This is the strongest Juve since the days of Capello, maybe even before that. I think their fucking reserve XI could compete for top spots! And their starting XI is definitely stronger than last season.

The cleverness of their transfer strategy can be assessed if you look at their wing back options. They have 3 gears on both wings:

1. Proper Fullbacks or defensive wingbacks: Lichtsteiner & Evra
2. Attacking Fullbacks or proper wingbacks: Alves & Alex Sandro
3. Ultra attacking wingbacks or wingers: Cuadrado & Pjaca

I don't know if this is deliberate or not, but the tactical options this gives Allegri are fucking amazing, specially because he likes to play a 3-man and 4-man defence depending on opposition.

I think the final rating of Inter is strongly linked to J.Mario's performance. If he turns to be next "Kondogbia" - quality prospect for the future but not able to deliver now, it will be a fail, considering we spent 45 mln for him. Barbosa is good addition for fair price, considering that these days players like Zaza and Gabbiadini cost 25-30 mln, i think his price is normal. Jube also spent 25 mln on promesing youngstar - Pjaca. Candreva is proven player who will be useful although his transfer was as per Mancini's request. Banega for free is great deal. The best transfer this window is the coaches' change even though it came too late.
Negatives - we dind't improve the defence. Also we could have sold Melo (to China) and Medel and to buy good DM with passing ability - for instance Blind or Gonalons. I also failed to get rid if the deadwood, but i think that maybe De Boer wanted all palyers here to assess them and to decide who will stay and who will go.

Really man, im just hoping a lot of these transfers fail. Im hoping alves flops. Im hoping Benatia is so injury prone. Hoping Higuain fails. Sick of Juve. Im looking for every potential thing that can go wrong for them to go wrong. The only way they can be stopped right now is if they do it themselves. So im praying.

Our rating depends on how good Joao Mario is we spent a lot and risked a lot with this guy. Banega can go down as maybe the best deal of the mercato. Candreva was a great deal too. Ansaldi cheap. gabigol is a huge question mark. Caprari was a good deal. all in all with the confusion of a new coach good deals.

Last season we all begged for creative players and I got what I wanted so I cant rate us too low we addressed our biggest issue next window we can deal with the Defense.

Does anyone have the average age of the projected starting eleven for Serie A teams? I know Juve's would change drastically depending on if they use Evra/Sandro, etc. but was looking for a ballpark number. It seems like Juve's is older than most.

Well , i think this is strongest Inter since 2010 ,,,

Perisic-Icardi-Candreva , with back up Eder-Gabigol-Jovetic .

Mario-Kondogbia-Banega , with back up Brozovic - Medel - Gnoukouri

Miangue-Murillo-Miranda-Ansaldi , back up Nagatomo-Andreolli-Medel-D'ambrosio..

i mean you had next Aguero , Poor man Ronaldo , Inzaghi regen , and many regular starter in NT..

i bit believe Miangue can turn to Vertonghen style or Alderwield via De Boer coaching ..so we not buy FB to develop our youth..

and i am sure in 2017 ,, no more Rano , Palacio , Melo , and Santon..

I rate 8.5/10

a bit off topic, but am i the only one who thinks that thohir might have played a part in juve not getting matuidi and matuidi being called off the market by the president personally? i remember thohir having great a relationship with the psg chairman...

Would PSG refuse the possibility to make money out of friendship with Erick Thohir? I know they already have plenty of money, but Thohir was hardly the reason behind the deal falling through.
