Bad game. Two goals we scored were lucky. Bijol the worst on the pitch.

I think we missed too many chances as well. Bijol was shit indeed. Most probably we will get him

Good win, but we are again reverting to a trend from two years ago where we simply concede too many goals. That shit will lead to nowhere if it's not corrected.

I suspected last season we looked great defensively mainly because of the sheer will and energy of the players, really doubted inzaghi suddenly turned into a defensive mastermind and this start of the season proves it. And consequently this year with our players not looking sharp we are conceding left and right.

Inzaghi will not save us in that regard, he is predominantly attacking coach, we really have to hope our players can retrieve that defensive mojo and desire from last year.
It was definitely due to heightened concentration. However we also seemed to sit a bit deeper when we had the lead.

A lot of these goals and chances are coming in transition. A lot of our issues stem from the fact we have an incredibly slow team. The Lucca goal today was a perfect example.

and most of the goals were headers where nobody was jumping or sometimes (like today) not even covering the player.

I didn't watch the game, how come we concede so many goals already this season? How did the match went in overall?

We have that old habit of letting the game out of control, when we "control" the game.
We missed a lot of chances though. I think that the win was well deserved considering chances created

Deserved win.

Offensively we did quite well I think - we created a lot of chances and generally moved the ball very well in Udinese half.

However, our defense is really unstable - we conceded 7 goals in our first 6 games.

As usual, people complain about "poor finishing" this season.

Per Understat, Inter's xG is 11.83 through six games. They've scored 13 goals. (+1.17) By added measure, their xG against is 7.79, they've conceded seven goals (-.79).

Seems to me we're right about where we deserve to be. The only real negative standout is 1.81-0.22 against Monza and being held to a draw, but maybe it says something we'd rather it not say that we've maxed out at 2.48 as our best xG of the season so far. (By a somewhat unfair comparison, Barcelona's exceeded 2.48 in five of their seven games in La Liga this season.)

Atalanta game skews that.

Don't have one.

People always do this when defense starts to crumble. That was number one reason for most people here in inzaghi first couple of years of why we couldn't win a title. And lo and behold last year when defense was finally fixed we won it.

We missed tons of chances last year as well, but it didn't matter when all you need is one or two goals to win a game. That's what a properly balanced team does.

Unconvincing win. I keep thinking about my biggest fear at the start of the season, which is 1, our squad is old, and 2, opponents seem to have read our game pretty well. Similar to what happened after the treble. This year we invested less that Milan, Juve, Napoli. Hopefully we have a plan in place, and I'm just PTSD'd.

And shame on all of you who pick on Lautaro every chance you get on this forum for his form so far this season given his summer. If someone told me 2-3 years ago we would be 3-2 up in Udine with Correa and Taremi on the pitch, I would've said that this is worse than the dreaded mid 2010s.

It's evident we need to work on my defence
Scoring 3 goals = our attack done it's job.

Even our play out from back , was piss poor so far.

Something we executed really well last season.

Attack isn't the problem. We still score goals. We just don't score enough to overcome defensive weaknesses.

A productive offense will only take you to a point. It's the defense that gives you championships. It has always been the case in Serie A. If people didn't realize it after last season I really don't know what to say.

Problem isn't the attack or that Inzaghi has been figured out. There have been two issues this season. Defence and fitness. We need to improve on both if we want to fight for the title. You can't expect from the attack to bail you out in every game. It's not realistic.

It's not just this season though? Before tonight's matches he'd scored one goal for inter in 6 months. That's a significant part of last season.

The fat cat helped after all. Toro had 2 goals, Frattesi finally had a good game. Thuram got an assist too. Even Correa was descent somewhat. Miki and Hakan had a 98 percent passing. The spell is officially out!

Last time Lautaro scored a meaningful goal for us before today was against Atalanta last winter. After we won that match 4-0, the Scudetto was close to being sealed (everyone knew at that point, we're going to win it). All those matches last season after that match, I really didn't care Toro didn't score for us, it was meaningless at that point so the stats look a lot worse than what they really MEANT. He scored in Copa America in the summer. This season it started to be a bit of an issue (we drew Monza, lost the derby), but now he scored two to win a tough away match against Udinese.

Love the new narrative of 1 goal in 6 months when 3 of those was off-season and he wasn't involved in 3 games out of the last 12 Serie A games last season..
How about 9 goals in 2 months before that? Why's that not a narrative?
